I need to know what documents are required to obtain a Non-O visa based on marriage in Penang. I've searched some older threads and here's what I've found:

 

• Two 4x6cm photographs taken within 6 months
• Copy of Passport, signed
• Copy of wife's ID, signed
• Copy of wife's tambien baan (house book), signed
• Copy of marriage certificate + original
• Proof of 400k in bank account

 

1. Is the list above correct? 

2. Does the 400k have to be in a Thai bank account?

I don't have bank book. Can I simply print out the current bank statement from the internet banking page?

4. Is it ok if the 400k have been recently transferred to the bank account?

5. Can I use an agent to get the visa? Last time I used Jim's Place for a tourist visa and had a great experience.

6. Will I get a single entry or a multiple entry visa?

1. Yes mostly correct. If applying for a single entry non-o visa you only need 200k baht in the bank.

6. There have been reports they will only do a single entry non-o visa the first time you apply for the non-o visa. After that it would be a multiple entry.

If you plan on applying for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage at immigration a single entry visa is all you need.

Your check list is correct. 

 

I got a multi-O in Penang March this year, had only 300k in my Thai account but they accepted a copy of my Thai bank book plus a recent Singapore bank statement.

 

I applied myself, it's easy enough and doesn't take much time. Just download the application form from the website in advance to save time. Staff are friendly, efficient and service is rapid.

Yes, my recent visa was my 2nd multi from Penang, prior to that I've had seven from Jakarta, before that from Birmingham.
