10 Thais arrested for disseminating Buddhism in Laos released back to kingdom

Lao authorities released 10 Thais on Friday who were arrested for disseminating Buddhism in the communist nation.

 

They were handed back to Thai authorities at the border checkpoint in Tambon Muang in Uttaradit’s Ban Khok district.

 

They were arrested by the Lao authorities while allegedly trying to disseminate Buddhism in Ban Pa Klai village in Xayaburi province on June 15.

 

They were fined Bt15,000 each, a Thai military source said.

 

They were identified as: Sgt Somchai Thongbuang, an Army officer in Tak, Suchin Thamkosol, Siriraj Thamkosol, Prawit Mingmol, Ratana Promngam, Phet Chanyaem, Wirat Nualchiak, Mananya Charoenyos, Supnida Jomkao, and Pongthong Tungwanitset.
