June 27, 20179 yr Villagers tilling land for pepper farming in Battambang province’s Samlot district discovered nearly 300 unexploded bombs on Sunday left over from the civil war. Kor Sunkaing, Samlot district police chief, yesterday said villagers in Sung commune had found a variety of unexploded ordnances and immediately notified police. “We then informed the experts at the Cambodian Mine Action Centre to take those unexploded bombs from the scene and they already moved them out safety,” Mr Sunkaing said, noting 263 pieces were removed. Mr Sunkaing added the unexploded bombs were left over from the civil war, because Samlot district was an area where the soldiers of the Khmer Rouge, Vietnam and government used to battle. The 263 unexploded ordnances included 113 82mm mortar shells, 145 60mm mortar shells, one B40 shell, one DK82 shell and three grenades. Mr Sunkaing said no one was injured during the discovery or removal of the explosives. Last week, a large haul of 1,800 old rocket launchers and shells were discovered in Kandal province’s Ta Khmao town, which CMAC also removed. read more http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/39690/nearly-300-explosives-found-in-battambang/ -- © Copyright Khmer Times 27/06 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
