I have reviewed the 'Recommended Doctors And Medical Specialists' post that is pinned but I want to know if anyone has any recommendations for a doctor that can remove a skin tag that is located in a sensitive area, the eyelid.

I would like to hear from someone that has possibly had experience for such an operation in the past year or two.

Also any estimates as to the possible cost would be greatly appreciated.

I asked Dr. Siri one time about the same procedure and he said he did not do any work close to the eye; especially if a suture was required. When I asked him for a recommendation for someone to do it, he said he couldn't recommend anyone.

I ended up getting it done when I was in Bangkok at the Rutnin Eye Hospital. I forget the cost now, but it was not very expensive. I didn't need a suture and it took all of five minutes.

Can you tell me, was yours large and was it on the upper or lower eyelid?

Silk thread tied tight. Atrophies and falls off after a week or 10 days.

Yes, I have read about that and other 'home remedies' before making this post.

The thread (dental floss) tying isn't a method I would prefer after reading about it. First there would be this nasty looking dark growth appearing until it does fall off, if it does. Secondly if the thread isn't tied at the proper location of the skin tag stalk then the blood circulation wouldn't be obstructed and it wouldn't work. And then there's that possibility of infection or large scar/bump left behind.

I would just as much pay someone $$ and get it done properly by a professional who has a good track record.

Thanks elektrified for the reply. I am curious, do you have any visible scar from the procedure? Also how was the cut covered up until it healed?

No scar whatsoever. It was not covered. I had to come back and follow up the next day or two as I recall. Was told not to use shampoo or harsh soaps, etc. for a few days. They may have given some supplies to disinfect the site.

I liked the post about using nail clippers ( but I hope they were properly sterilized ). That's what I would do, and use a steristrip after.

Not so sure about self surgery on the eyelid though. That's a delicate area with important muscles. Wouldn't want to end up with a drooping eyelid.

However, like any procedure that breaks the skin, there is ALWAYS the chance of complications, usually from infection, even from a proper hospital theatre.

I self removed a skin tag on my body using nail clippers.  It was in an area not normally visible, I think caused by rubbing from my underwear.  While the procedure was painless, I was amazed at the amount of blood generated.  I would definitely seek professional treatment for a skin tag located in a more prominent area.

Find a good ophthalmologist in a gvmt or private hospital.

I am an old Eye Nurse, so I can tell you this should not be a big deal.

FYI: I once removed my own upper eyelid tag, but I had the right tools ("tissue scissors") that I "borrowed" from the clinic.

If you don't have the right tools (and you won't find these German/Japanese ultra-expensive surgical scissors online or in any store), then just go to an ophthalmologist.

Luckily, it's not a big deal.

Why pay good money for a simple Skin tag removal ?? the process of removing it yourself costs NOTHING i have removed several of my own safely and at zero cost.

All you need to do is cut off the blood supply to the tag and this can easily be done with DENTAL FLOSS just tie a piece at the base of the skin tag and tighten (this will be a bit uncomfortable when you initially do it) then tighten it and tie it off tight.

After a few days it will simply drop off and be gone, I dabbed it in Apple cider vinigar to speed up the drying out process but if its near your eye that might not be possible.

It works and its free

RUBBISH

Coming from someone who has removed 3 tags ITS A SIMPLE process and just pull it as tight as you can and i assure you all blood will be cut off as for SCARS absolute rubbish I cant even find where it was located now.

Cant imagine paying for such a simple job and as as someone said once it turns black you can just remove it since it is just dead skin.

You should of tied it off first with cotton thread or dental floss leave it till it turns blackish then use the nail cutter and you wont bleed at all since the blood has been cut off and behind the thread the skin has already closed.

I had zero blood in 3 self skin tag removals

The fact that it's on the eyelid makes it not a simple process. If it gets infected that's a real problem.

I agree with the last poster.  Skins tags on other parts of the body may be more easily removed (although they may be more vascular than you think--resulting in more bleeding than you think!)

But the eye?

Go to a doctor--it's cheap enough.

I went to the large hospital opposite the holiday inn....some years ago it was walk in , quick exam8 action by doctor and then he carefully burnt one off my eyelid..painless and for about 3 it was about 800 baht.

you can do it yourself but if it’s on the tip of the eyelid probably wiser to have the doctor do it.

I didn’t have ON my eye lid but next to my eye and I want to share my experience with pricing.

Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital quoted me 9000b. A clinic charged me 400b. I was in and out within 10 minutes, no scarring. So be sure to get another opinion or two should the price sound a bit off.
