Featured Replies

A provincial police officer working at a drug rehabilitation centre in Siem Reap province was charged with drug trafficking on Saturday. Kong Seila, deputy commander of the provincial military police, identified the officer as Lieutenant Tong Chanphirom, 27, and added that he was arrested with four accomplices.

The others charged on Saturday include: Pen Soksamarth, a 26-year-old tuk-tuk driver; Chea Sovath, 21, a motodop driver; Kong Pheaktra, 27, a karaoke shop worker; and Nath Narong, 33, a clothes vendor. “They were charged by the Siem Reap Provincial Court prosecutor with drug trafficking,” said Mr Seila. “They have now been sent to prison.”

Mr Seila said the group was arrested on Thursday at a rented room in Thvay Dangkum commune, where police seized 16 small packages of crystal methamphetamine, seven mobile phones and one motorbike, along with various drug paraphernalia.
