PHUKET:-- An Iraqi national was yesterday arrested for allegedly stealing 60,000 baht from a tourist at a Phuket hotel last week.

The suspect, Ouday Kadim Rashek, 27, was arrested at a housing estate in Vichit.

“The victim, a tourist from Qatar, told us that he came to Phuket with a friend on June 26 and was initially scheduled to go back on June 30. A day after his arrival, he told hotel staff that his room keycard was stolen while he was swimming and requested a new one. Later that night, he went to Soi Bangla with his friend,” Lt Col Somsak Thongkleang of Patong Police told the Phuket Gazette.

Amazing police work from RTP. I must praise them for the effectiveness when it comes to catching FOREIGNERS committing crimes, but when foreigners keep dying mysteriously in Koh Tao, the deaths always seems to baffle even the best of our BIB...

I thought that there were new rules calling for not to exhibit the culprits in the press?

At least they've stopped asking them to point at the article/corpse in question

Iraqi Tourist? I thought bad tourists weren't allowed? The newspaper reported he entered Thailand

illegally! How do you do that? Why in't he at home fighting for his country? They gave up their country

to Obama's JV Team and now with Americans help their trying to take it back! Go home and fight and stop stealing in Thailand.

The thief apparently managed to scam the hotel staf in making them believe he was the legitimate guest in the room by stealing the card key...and thus get the safe opened....

hotel staff should be a bit more careful and check id's with more scrutinity in such situations...
