Where/how to watch "Game of Thrones"

I have a friend (a young lady smitten by Jon Snow, of course) who is desperate to watch the new season of "Game of Thrones" next week.  It's on HBO, but I don't know how to get HBO.  It's not on True, is it available on another cable package?  Is it possible to legally download it through some service?

Perhaps the best choice would be a bar showing it.  I'm sure my friend isn't the only young lady smitten by Jon Snow.

I doubt that there is a bar that will show it (delayed until the evening here). Within few hours of the episode ending in the US it will be available on the various torrent download sites (with literally thousands of seeders).

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm leery of illegal downloads, which often are of dubious quality and require linking to unfamiliar sites.  I've used an android box enough to be unimpressed with streaming video; it's ok for some stuff but the more popular the program the longer and more frequent the pauses for buffering.

I'll look into the AIS option.  Does anyone have any experience with it?

I torrent through U Torrent to idope but waste a lot of time downloading programmes that turn out to be in Serbo Croat or similar - is there a way of knowing the language before committing?

For the men there are beautiful naked women, for the women there's Jon Snow.  For both it's an entertaining escape from reality, and much better than the absurd programs advertised as reality TV.

Over 25 million LEGAL viewers per week disagree with your rubbish assessment...

Game of Thrones averaged an insane 25.1 million viewers for its sixth season. And that’s not even counting the record-breaking number of people who watched the season illegally through online torrents. Going by HBO’s numbers, Game of Thrones appears to have even beaten out ratings juggernauts like The Big Bang Theory and Sunday Night Football. The Walking Dead

That doesn't mean it's not rubbish

And if HBO showed it here on True, it wouldn't be worth watching after self censorship

Quite true! However, likes and dislikes are are subjective...while the numbers and ratings are not. GofT is at the top of the ratings and that is simply a fact...not a subjective opinion.

impossible to register, they dont send the required log in e-mail ????

I'm registered and it was easy but I don't think you have to, I only did it because they keep track of the shows I like and show me an alert when there's a new episode. There are different sites(links) shown as to where you can watch the shows and you learn which ones work best for you and which ones have the most advertising and pop-up ads. A bit annoying but not a high price to pay to be able to watch so many shows for free. I highly recommend installing ghostery on your computer to help block pop-ups....everywhere. It's free and I consider it a lifesaver for working on the internet.

Try checking your junk mail folder sometimes e mails go there if site is not on your safe list or have not sent you mail before.

As a wise man once said to me, just because it's rubbish doesn't mean that one can't enjoy watching/ reading it.

BTW, 90% of the stuff on tv is "rubbish".

I just watched all 6 series over a week, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was pretty compulsive viewing. Must have the closest thing to porn that I've ever seen on a tv series, which surprised me, as none of it was essential for the plot. Times really have changed.

I assume you mean the nudity/ simulated sex. While a prominent part of the early series, it wasn't what made me watch it, and I would assume most people are similar. The good thing about watching on DVD is that one can fast forward over parts one is not interested in.

While an entertaining series, it shows that there is so little decent on tv that such a series would be top of the ratings.

Big Bang has suffered the fate of all long running sitcoms and has become, IMO, boring. I rarely watched commercial tv back in the home country as the only way to avoid the horrendous number of ads was to use an expensive subscription service machine, and most commercial tv really is garbage, like "Real wives of ( insert name )", The Batchelor etc. When Big Brother becomes popular, one has to give it away.

In Thailand, the only things I watch are the news and movie channels, as the series are all in Thai on the local cable service- pity.

At least here I can buy the DVDs at a reasonable price eg I just completed G O T, and I am now watching The Black List. No way I could afford to do so back home.

What fits your criteria for a good series?

For myself, something with a plot is a start.

My favourites are most good British shows eg Casualty, The Tudors, The Avengers ( they don't make them like that anymore ) etc.

American series would be such as China Beach, The Black List, Twin Peaks.

Sadly, the advent of ( IMO ) visual faeces such as Big Brother, The Batchelor, Real wives etc has driven out most quality series from commercial tv. Nowadays it's like the shows are there to fill in the gaps between ads.
