For some reason everytime I open internet search it opens with something called Bing and that seems to limit or send you to thai redults only. I have no idea where it came from and all I want to do is get rid of it.

I cant find it when I go to control panel and delete programmes, it just doesnt seem to be there to delete.

Need idoits guide to get rid of it and just use google not google chrome.

Reloaded google after deleting google chrome and now seems to be ok. Bing whatever it was has gone ???

"Bing", if it was really Bing, is Microsoft's search engine (competitor to Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, Ask, AOL, etc, etc.)

Your browser startup page preferences can get set by websites either tricking you, or using exploits to set user preferences.

Likewise, installing free software or sometimes updates to free software is the going incursion vector for installing unwanted programs that make changes to your system, mostly for displaying ads that generate revenue for somebody that isn't you.

Sometimes finding a 'reset' option in the browser takes care of this.

Other times changes have been made to your OS that will keep the change in place, and you'll need to run malware cleanup tools to find and remove the added code to clear the browser problem.

Quite sure no need to get rid off and it will probably NOT fix/reverse the search engine.

Follow the post of RichCor.

Most likely it was only during the installation process where there was an "offer" to change to Bing search engine. Usually there is a box to uncheck.

Such "addons" during freeware installation are commonplace nowadays.

You always have to carefully read what is on the screen while installing.

Much worse can happen than changing the default search engine.

I recently installed the latest version of an open source(!) filesync tool.

At the end of the (English) installation I got a dialog completely in Thai language with a check mark/box.

I didn't take any effort to translate and just unchecked.

Back to google now, not chrome, and all seems back to normal. Ran a malware scan and anti-virus scan and came up blank on results.
