Lum Lum in Sansai. Owned by a Korean chef and his Thai wife. Been in business for many years. They serve Korean beef. Superb!

Another place (for lunch only) in the Nimman area - I believe Soi 11; also Korean owned. Lunch buffet. Misone.

Definitely not as good as the soul food in Seoul but try Jin Mi on Changklan road. Never seen anybody but Koreans and Japanese there. Another one on Chiang Mai land road was good but I don't know the name.

I don't know the name of the place on Chiangmai Land either, but have been meaning to go for years. Just never remember... That's the place that the King's granddaughter often flies in to eat lunch at and has mentioned it in a number of articles.

There are so many Korean restaurants in CM now. I'll list a few that are on FB, but there are so many more.

These above are my personal favorite go-to places, they have Korean owners and the flavor seems authentic.

There is one more at Star Avenue Lifestyle Mall on the Superhighway, a chicken feet restaurant near the corner of the moat going to Central Airport Plaza, Arirang in Chiangmai Land, Biwon on the ring road in Sansai, Seoul Garden on Canal and a few Korean themed restaurants around town owned by Thais as well. Also many dessert cafes.

Interested in the chicken feet restaurant.

Does it actually serve chicken feet dishes??

Do you have more details of the location, inside the moat or on the outside (perhaps near Siam TV?)

Thanks

Actually, I've never been there myself, but I've heard good reviews from others.  You can check out the menu below, although it's all in Korean,  It's on the outside of the moat, same side as the AIA building, you can see it on the left side coming from Airport Plaza.  Their sign is in Korean.

Having been married to a Korean for over 5 years I must say the term good Korean food is an oxymoron to me. I hate kim chee I actually purchased a second refrigerator when we were married so the fermented cabbage stench would not ruin any more of my food. I believe the term dragon breath originated from kimchee eaters.

I understand the Japanese used to call Koreans garlic eaters.

Ahhh but it's Amphur Muang. Actually Sansai is the Amphur, not the Tambon.

The district is subdivided into 12 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 116 villages (muban). There are two townships (thesaban tambon) - San Sai Luang covers parts of tambon San Sai Luang, San Sai Noi, San Phranet and Pa Phai; and Mae Cho parts of tambon Nong Chom, Nong Han and Pa Phai. There are further 10 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).

No. Name Thai name Villages Inh.
1. San Sai Luang สันทรายหลวง 8 6,397
2. San Sai Noi สันทรายน้อย 7 13,950
3. San Phranet สันพระเนตร 7 5,965
4. San Na Meng สันนาเม็ง 10 8,100
5. San Pa Pao สันป่าเปา 6 3,934
6. Nong Yaeng หนองแหย่ง 11 5,117
7. Nong Chom หนองจ๊อม 9 13,657
8. Nong Han หนองหาร 13 16,463

Correct. And by looking at Meechok Plaza, one would of course assume that it is located in Tambon  Nong Chom, Amphur Sansai. But strangely enough, Meechok Plaza and a small area around it is actually in Tambon Faham, Amphur Muang.

Did you see the Google Map I posted above?

Very strange border line, which goes just around Meechok  Plaza

(for those not familiar with the area the buildings at 1001 and 3029 is Meekchok with Lotus across the street to the right that is white)

BTW, yes google and wikipedia are my friends

I've been married to a Korean for more than 30 years. Lum Lum at Meechok Plaza is by far her favourite. She is never shy of taking Korean visitors there.

The problem with most of the Korean restaurants in town is that they are opened by people who have never run a restaurant before. The food is bad and the service atrocious in the majority of them. Lum Lum's food is taken care of by the Korean husband of the team; his Thai wife runs a tight ship out front. They now have a second, very successful, branch in Hang Dong.

A little of topic but most restaurants here are run by people who have no business taking money for their product.

It's more like their business is just about taking money then providing a worthwhile product.

Sounds like 'sour grapes', Jchef.  Maybe ur restaurant failed and now u r angry and lash out at other restaurant folk.  In fact, few new restaurants make money and subsequently close up after 1 or 2 yrs.

And from my point of view, some of these new owners know damn little about food, service or a welcoming atmosphere.  They like to cook, they know everyone eats 3x per day and are usually highly restrained by local competition. And from a farang viewpoint many 'restaurants' are merely fronts for 'drink and smoke'.

Very true, I have been served sour grapes among other rotten food stuffs.

BTW my restaurants were a great success which allowed me to retire in my 30's and are now still profitable 20 yrs later
