A Thai with 2 passports (Thai/Foreigner), who is applying in Thailand for a 3rd country Visa, has been suggested to exit Thailand (on his Thai Passport) and come back with his foreign passport in Thailand.

Next time he would go out of the country, he would exit Thailand on his Foreign passport, and then come back on his Thai Passport.

The reason for this situation, is that he is currently refused the VISA for this 3rd country, because he has no entry stamp on his foreign passport (which he will be using to travel in this 3rd country)

Any potential issue with this?

So far, I have been avoiding this issue, by always using Thai passport at entry/exit in Thailand.

Thanks

There should not be a problem to leave on the Thai passport and re-enter on the other passport.

It would have to done by air since it would not be possible at a border crossing.

OP: Are you flying from Thailand to the 3rd Country - or is it a land-border crossing?

If flying:

  • Get the Visa on your foreign passport
  • Leave By Air on your Thai passport
  • Enter 3rd Country on your foreign passport (with the 3rd Country visa in it)
  • Leave 3rd Country on your foreign passport you used to enter
  • Re-enter Thailand By Air on your Thai passport

Re-Entering Thailand on a Foreign Passport would create complications which are best to avoid.

Do Not show Thai immigration your foreign-passport at any time - as that can also create complications (due to attitudes, ignorance, etc)

I think you need to read the OP again.

Thanks. No problem to get in with the Foreign Passport and a nice stamp (a 30 day visa exempt stamp).

Could he now apply for an extension of stay (new permission of stay)? 7, 15, 30 days? ... even on a Visa exemption?

He can apply for a 30 day extension of his 30 day visa exempt entry for a fee of 1900 baht.
