WP3 necessary if I have a Work Permit? (Penang)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

So my own company failed to provide all necessary documents for this year's visa extension on time (shame on me). So I was advised by the immigration officer to get a new 90 days Non-Immigrant B visa for now and then restart the process with more time.

This is fine with me and I plan to go to Penang in the next few days. Going through Penang's Thai consulate website, which appears to be only in Thai, it looks like they require the WP3 form. However, in my case I already have a valid work permit and my place of employment did not change. My question is, if I still need the WP3 form, or if a copy of my valid work permit is enough? (It is very likely not required, but I want to make sure, given that we had the issues with the visa extension)

On top of that, if anyone had a complete list of all required documents for a non-immigrant b visa in Penang in English it would be amazing. In general I do not trust Google translate and also do not want to leave all the responsibility with my Thai staff.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The link for visas on Penang's website for visas takes you to the department of consular affair website.

If you have a work permit a WP3 is not needed.

Here is a old list of requirements the had on the site before. Penang requiremts.pdf  Only the fees are out of date as far as I know.
