Hi Every body,

            I am wanting to find out about a good sat-nav, for the car, what brands work well, also i will be in bangkok later in the week, so where is the best place to buy and at what price??

Stand-alone sat navs are OK but quite expensive, and on many you have to update the maps manually and the updates are not very frequent. I have one but I stopped using it in favour of the TomTom app on my Android phone. This is quite cheap (GBP35 for 3 years, with no initial purchase cost), allows me to use any available maps (all with frequent updates via wifi) and it also has full interaction with a website that I can use to plan routes on my PC. You dont even need 3G data to use it, though having 3G data does allow you to get traffic and other updates instantly.

 

I think that this is the way forward.

I still prefer to use Google map or waze because of real time traffic update even the information accuracy is not so good. Just get an old android and put in a Thai Sim card with data

Sygic on your phone is a useful tool. Can be used without internet connection or even when walking. Pay for the initial map by country region or the whole world ! then free updates for life also has built in dashcam.

Google is good its free its accurate. You can download the route at home and use it off line (without live updates on traffic). Never let me down.
