Obtain "certificate of single status" only at GF's Amphoe?

In order to get the affidavit (freedom to marry) from my embassy, they are asking for a certificate of single status (or something like that) from my girlfriend.

I went to the Bureau of Registration Administration (http://www.bora.dopa.go.th) here in Bangkok and they told us that my girlfriends needs to go to the Amphoe in her home town to obtain such a certificate. Because her hometown is quite far away I want to be sure if this is indeed the only option we have. Is there maybe another way to get such a certificate? Maybe through an agent or something like that?

Never ever heard of this before.....which Embassy is it? The affirmation is about you not your lady.

HL

Agree. I would have thought a Statutory Declaration would be the required document.

A friend recently married and all that was required was a sworn affidavit from his embassy. It had nothing to do with his intended partner.

Which embassy id requesting this?

I just got married last month . I had to go through nightmare of  bureaucracy o the Thai part and Polish.  my fiancee had to get the affidavit from her ampoe. translated into english and certified at the MoFA, so then i could get my affidavit from polish embassy. lots of more bs.  moving between embassy to chaeng wattana, back and forth  few times. after  marriage, again the same

 finally its done.

Sorry for the late reply. It's the Swiss embassy that is asking for such a certificate. As far as I can tell there are not many embassies asking for that. The Swiss like to out-german the Germans when it comes to bureaucracy ;)

The Embassy is also asking for Tabien Baan that is not older than 6 months. My girlfriend has a Tabien Baan, but the last entry is more than 1 year old. What are we supposed to do here? Get a new Tabien Baan from her Amphoe?

If yes, how long does it take to get a new one? Does my girlfriend's mom also have to be present when going to the Amphoe?

There is nothing unusual about that.  You need a document from the Amphur stating that she either has never been married, or if she has and has been divorced, I believe she'll not her divorce paperwork and a kor 2.  It' just how they do it.  Enjoy your trip!

Getting married myself soon. Also have to deal with the Swiss embassy.

Check this link, as it lists all documents you need:

German: https://www.eda.admin.ch/content/dam/countries/countries-content/thailand/en/Heirat-in-Thailand_DE.pdf

Thai: https://www.eda.admin.ch/content/dam/countries/countries-content/thailand/en/Ehe-in-Thailand_TH.pdf

I contacted an agency who helps me. They told me that the swiss papers shouldn't be older then 90 days. And if you are divorced, you will need your divorce certificate (Not sure who needs this).

The agency contacted my future wife and told her what to get at her home town. She told me it is the same as in the above linked document (Cannot confirm 100% ).

Good luck

Sounds like the Swiss embassy staff are idiots. The affirmation is so the THAIS know you are not already married. They know if she is married or not.

I'm assuming you want a THAI marriage only. Obviously, if you want to register your marriage in Switzerland as well they would have an interest in her marital status.

When I got my affirmation of freedom to marry, I was told that it was a meaningless document as I was not required to present any proof of my marital status to the embassy, and I was only affirming I was unmarried- could have been lying. They only signed the document to say I had sworn I was unmarried.
