beachbuggy
Thinking about returning to UK. Can anyone advise how to transfer monies out of Thailand in to a UK bank, particularly the 800k visa fund. Many thanks Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
Chivas
If its only that amount I'd change it back into Sterling over several visits via the private money exchangers and walk it into the uk with covering docs as to origin in case of a tug from Border agency.... Orton Rd
17k sterling is a big bundle of notes and safer to transfer it at the Bank
KhunBENQ
Similar questions are usually discussed in the ... banking ... forum. So I move it there (from Home Country forum).
CharlieH
17k? Its closer to 19k and shouldnt be carried. I would recommend bank transfer or 50/50 bank/carry. Super rich is probably the best rate for the cash you choose to carry.

Yes I agree its not "sensible" per se but if you're going to carry 9.5 large you might as well carry 19 large.....even at 9.5k you wont be sleeping on the plane......its a lot easier walking it in but a transfer immediately notifies HMRC on landing in an uk account.....now fine if you're squeaky A1 clean but HMRC investigations (should it arise) aren't nice you can stand on me lol Walk it in OP keeping all documents to hand....I've done it in reverse for 16 large
