BANGKOK, 31 July 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has expressed its concerns over the mental health of children in flooded areas.

Department of Mental Health Director-General Dr. Boonruang Triruangworawat said children are easily influenced by their parents’ state of mind. When parents are stressed out, children often feel the same way.

In light of the flooding, Dr. Boonruang urged adults to observe their children as they may react to the disaster in different ways. They may have short attention spans or become easily agitated for no apparent reasons.

Parents are advised to be patient and try to answer the children’s questions about the situation in a positive way in order to help them feel better and learn to remain calm.

"...Dr. Boonruang urged adults to observe their children..."

I would hope they do a better job observing their children's behaviors, and addressing their questions, than they do when they are riding on their laps in the front seat of an auto, or not wearing safety helmets, or when Dad comes home rip roaring drunk after a night of gambling and drinking, and in too many cases, every other responsibility they seem to ignore.

If not for laws and enforcement on vehicle issues to appease insurance companies over payouts for related injuries and the win win situation for governments to increase their own revenue with fines for noncompliance, I'd wonder what country this might refer to.
