More leptospirosis cases predicted after flooding has receded

The Department of Diseases Control has predicted an increase of leptospirosis cases after flood water has receded especially in the Northeast where 674 cases were reported during the first seven months and, of these, there were ten fatalities.

DDPM: 3.6 magnitude in Chiang Rai not affects Mae Suai Dam’s structure

 

BANGKOK, 7 August 2017 (NNT) - The Director General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has confirmed that the 3.6 magnitude earthquake in Chiang Rai poses no immediate risk to the structure of Mae Suai Dam.

Thailand’s Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation Reports Nearly 8000 Killed in Road Accidents this Year

Too many political cases unhealthy for Thai justice

Preoccupied judiciary struggling to create genuine “legal fairness”


It has been a busy week for “political animals”, legally. First, ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra slammed the Thai justice system, which is trying to find “culprits” in the controversial rice-pledging scheme, and then a court ruling triggered an uproar among those on her opposite side. In the latter case, the court killed charges against former leading state officials implicated in a bloody crackdown on protesters.
