I arrived at Schiphol airport in Europe, there were long qeueu's at the customs but the lines for the automatic counters were not that long and since i have an EU passport i'm allowed to use them, which i did.

 

There was a group of Indians in our qeueu, the machines didn't let them pass of course since they didn't have an EU passport.

We all had to wait for that several minutes, they kept on trying.

Then i asked an older Indian man next to me if India was in the EU?? (he had an Indian passport in his hand). He didn't understand my question so i asked it to his indian neighbour. YES he said, India is in the EU and the whole group started examining me.

 

Then some other Europeans started laughing loud and told them India is NOT in the EU, now go back to those long qeueu's please and let us pass here.

Had a similar experience in Singapore when a horde of seemingly educated and hi-so Thais attempted the automated gates meant for Singaporeans and approved individuals.

Tricky example, I'm aware of a school here in Thailand wanting to buy floating swimming lanes for their pool, assigned person did a google search and opened the website of an Indian company selling various items of pool equipment.

 

Some messages transpired asking about size, colour, quantity, price etc., but no indication whatever of a purchase.

 

Several days later school person get's an e.mail from Indian company saying the goods are waiting in Bangkok to go through customs. Mail also indicates that a large amount of customers duty and admin. fees must be paid, also indicates that the said fess have to be paid by a funds transfer from the supplier only.

 

Same mail asks for the funds to be transferred from Thailand to a given bank account in India so that the Indian company can then do a bank transfer to the Thai customs department.

 

Local school guy ignored the message. No further messages ever received from Indian company.

I had ThB47000 withdrawn from my bank account, through a number of ATMs in Calcutta over the new year.

 

I've only ever been to Mumbai and Dheli airports as a transit passenger, but it would appear that the card was copied here (I've only ever used it in Chiang Rai) and then used in India.

Apparently India is a "hub" for cloning cards.

You will understand my somewhat jaundiced view of the place...

And many consulting companies have experienced the strong attempts to push for additional work to be completed on top of the the already agreed / endorsed scope of work.

 

One instance I'm aware of is telling the consulting juniors that their boss agreed to additional work and pushing for the work to be completed very quickly.

Singapore, Indians although small in numbers cannot be denied their contributions to the island state's prosperity today.

Actually, i feel that it is the Isaan farmers, Pattaya bar girls, prostitutes and dating site hookers who vastly prefer farangs, even if they are old enough to be their father or grandfather, rich or poor. The modern, educated and economically independent Thai girl is more likely to choose an educated Indian/Chinese or other Asian man of her age over an ageing farang living on his pension or teaching wages and struggling with his visa runs.
