PM buys Phnom Penh house for maths prodigy

Featured Replies

Prime Minister Hun Sen has bought a shophouse for the seven-year-old maths prodigy he met last month, when he promised to help the boy wonder attain a scholarship and aid his future studies. According to Mr Hun Sen’s assistant Duong Dara, the Prime Minister bought a Phnom Penh shophouse for Heu Teang Kimhong, a young boy from Takeo province who is studying at a Grade 6 level rather than his age-required Grade 2.

Mr Dara said the home, for the boy and his family, is located near Beltei International School, where the premier helped the boy attain a scholarship to have him begin Grade 8 studies. Kimhong can solve maths problems that trouble Grade 12 students and has been able to read since the age of two.

Last month, the Prime Minister met with Kimhong and promised his family to support his future studies with financial support, while also giving the boy a laptop and iPad. “This is the most proper investment for this special human resource,” Mr Dara said, noting that the intellect of Kimhong is akin to a genius.
