roro1990 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Anyone know where can get a bamboo whisk in Chiang Mai? They are otherwise known as a chasen, and are used for making matcha tea. I'd be really grateful if someone knew a place that sells them.
steven100 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I think you gotta find a tea shop that sells chinese teas and ceramics.

VocalNeal Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) Japanese shops? Maybe even a Daiso Store (Japanese "dollar" store) there are three in Chaing Mai Edited August 10, 2017 by VocalNeal
roro1990 Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Just now, DonDoRondo said: I had a thread about Matcha Green Tea and poster Scottiejohn steered me to the Matcha Green Tea Cafe, across from CM Plaza Hotel. I tried out the place and spoke with the owner, who offered to obtain a bamboo whisk for me should I so desire. You might want to give them a try. Perfect, thanks. I'll check this place out today.

(If I could remember the name) I tried the one in Central Airport at the bottom floor but no luck. Cheers anyway. I'm sure there are more Japanese stores.

roro1990 Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Tried the Matcha Green Tea cafe, great cup of tea, but he won't sell the bamboo whisk. The Daiso Thailand website doesn't list a bamboo whisk in its kitchenware, nor was it anywhere to be found when I visited the Central Airport branch, so I doubt they stock them anymore in any of the three branches. I'll have to settle on buying online by the looks of it, but most companies offering them on Amazon won't ship to Thailand unfortunately.
FolkGuitar Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Ebay is your friend. Free international shipping, and prices starting at 200 Baht up to 900 baht. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=bamboo tea whisk&rt=nc&LH_FS=1&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
Somnambulist Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 There are several English-friendly shops in Japan that sell online. The teaheads at teachat dot com can tell you which ones they like.
roro1990 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 It's fine I found one in Daiso in Central Festival. 200 baht. Thanks everyone.
