Anyone know where I can buy a bamboo whisk in Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Anyone know where can get a bamboo whisk in Chiang Mai? They are otherwise known as a chasen, and are used for making matcha tea. I'd be really grateful if someone knew a place that sells them.

I think you gotta find a tea shop that sells chinese teas and ceramics.

Thanks, any suggestions? I tried a place named Hillkoff but they didn't sell them.

I had a thread about Matcha Green Tea and poster Scottiejohn steered me to the Matcha Green Tea Cafe, across from

CM Plaza Hotel.  I tried out the place and spoke with the owner, who offered to obtain a bamboo whisk for me should I so desire.

You might want to give them a try.

I tried the one in Central Airport at the bottom floor but no luck. Cheers anyway. I'm sure there are more Japanese stores.

Yep, that is where I got mine , for 200 bahts, at the Festival branch.

Tried the Matcha Green Tea cafe, great cup of tea, but he won't sell the bamboo whisk.

The Daiso Thailand website doesn't list a bamboo whisk in its kitchenware, nor was it anywhere to be found when I visited the Central Airport branch, so I doubt they stock them anymore in any of the three branches.

I'll have to settle on buying online by the looks of it, but most companies offering them on Amazon won't ship to Thailand unfortunately.

There are several English-friendly shops in Japan that sell online.  The teaheads at teachat dot com can tell you which ones they like.
