August 11, 20178 yr Bank of Thailand denies singling out Iranian tourists By The Nation BANGKOK: -- The Bank of Thailand has denied having told commercial banks to refuse Iranian tourists financial services. The central bank has issued no such directive regarding any nationality, BOT assistant governor Somboon Chitpenthom said on Friday. He was responding to a news report that bank outlets at Suvarnabhumi Airport had refused to exchange currency for Iranian tourists because of UN sanctions against their homeland. The BOT has merely advised banks to comply with a United Nations request that financial institutions stop providing financial services to “some people” on a sanctions list, Somboon said. August 11, 20178 yr I don't get it .If the country is on the UN banned list they where correct to refuse the currency transaction but why deny they did so?
August 11, 20178 yr So, Iranian tourists can come in to Thailand, but they can't exchange their money? Another case of just making up the rules as they go along.

August 11, 20178 yr But what about Iranian nationals who are in-exile, do they have to suffer too, seems unfair !
August 11, 20178 yr I wonder if Thai Immigration is accepting Iranian currency as proof of B$20,000 at entry.
