Where is a good store to purchase English DVDs for kids - young 2-3 years old?

You'll find plenty of Barney DVDs at Pratunam Complex.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear in my original post and said;

"Where is a good store to purchase English DVDs for kids - young 2-3 years old? I do not want any DVDs with Barney as I am hoping to maintain my sanity"

But it was sweet of you to offer that suggestion! :o

:D Hah, good for you with the Barney denial. We have recently rid ourselves of anything purple..................however, to the original question. Central have a reasonable selection - Andy pandy, Pingu, Magic school bus, Bob the builder etc. Scorpion shops (name begins with an M in Thai) also have a fair number but beware that some of theirs are for rental only! Otherwise there is the famous shops on the pavements depending on your morals :o

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll head out to Central this weekend.

Yes I want legit DVDs. I have a high for respect intellectual property and the people and companies behind it - even when it's purple :-)

Thanks again everyone,

Derek

Oy! What's wrong with Barney!!!! My 2 and 4 year old love him so that's alright with me. What can be wrong with a happy singing dinosaur?

The selection of 'legit' CD / DVD's is very limited here and you'll soon run out of options. If you can turn a blind eye to your principles you'll find lots of bootleg new options out at places like Seri centre - my kids particularly like The Wiggles, and Mr Bean (is their new find).

A good idea is to buy a vcr and tape the programmes of UBC Spark - i think only Panasonic sell vcrs here now and the one i got last year was top of the range and a beauty at about 6000 baht (extends 4 hr tapes to 12 hours). I now set the tape every morning for 'Blues clues' and 'Dora the explorer' which they love, i think are great (i watch too) are good fun but highly educational - any entreprenuers reading this should get the import rights and make a killing. And ofcourse i can tape loads of football matches on at unsociable hours. Sorted.

You should also think of joining BAMBI playgroups - they also have a video club with lots of stuff from yesteryear.

OK I'll stop on any Barny bashing. It will just turn into one of those threads the mods will have to shut down.

Hard for me to turn the blind eye - my paycheck comes from people paying for intellectual property and it would be a lot bigger if they would pay more often!! :o

How do I get info on the playgroups?

Thanks!

I'd love to find a place to get Seaseme Street and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood DVD's in Thailand. Haven't heard these mentioned yet. Anyone have any idea?

Peace

:o Not sure I should post it here, try Seri centre second floor.

B2S, central, siam paragon, emporium all have them as well as some smaller shops, if you want english then your choices are Barney, Elmo, Thomas the Tank, Pingu and a couple of others not great but better than nothing, there are also some good TV programs on UBC including Blues Clues, i am looking for kids downloads and theres not a lot about.

Thanks all. In the Toy dept. in Central Chidlom had a decent selection. So far Thomas the Train is the hit. Last night he woke up at 4AM and just had to watch it again. This is why I'm happy he sleeps with grandmother - I slept through the fun :o Bob the Builder is also good (he is nuts about cars, trucks, trains, etc.) but the theme song got stuck in my head for days...

Thanks!

Seseme Street (esp Elmo) VCDs - haven't see DVDs - are available at the toy department at the Mall and at Central.
