Extension Of Non O -- Need To Fly Home Soon, Police Check?

Featured Replies

I'm about to go get my extension of stay on my Non Immigrant O Visa in the next week or so. With all the talk of police clearance letters and such, has anything changed regarding what is needed to extend a Non Immigrant O since Sunbelt released this list about three months ago?

1. Copy of Household Registration of Thai Wife.

2. Copy of Identification Card of Thai Wife.

3. Copy of Marriage Certificate

4. Clarification of Marital Status before Marriage.

5. Statement of guarantee of pension income from your Embassy that you have an income of at least Baht 40,000 per month or letter of guarantee from a foreign employer, that you are a employee, salary, position, years worked or Proof of this Thai income with the last three months of Phor Ngor Dor.1 (Personal Income tax form filed on a monthly basis) and Phor Ngor Dor.91 ( Filed on a yearly basis in March)

6.Copy of birth certificates of children. (if any)

7.Photo of place of residence. (show house’s number)

8.Map and telephone’s number of place of residence.

9.If under the age of 50 and working, a letter of guarantee from your employer. A copy of work permit as well.

10. Pictures of your wives clothes and your clothes in the same closet, picture of you and your wife on a living room sofa and a picture of the outside of the house with the house # in the picture. (This is not required if you have a birth certificate of children together.)

11. Application form TM 7 with 2x2 inch square photo’s attached.

12. A valid passport

We will use Phor Ngor Dor.91 from 2005 and the last three months for 2006. Will this be OK or might they ask us to pay tax for 2006 first?

ALSO, I need to arrange an air ticket home soon. Will they give me 3 30 day extensions before the final extensions? I will need to leave and get back before the 30 days expires, but this might be a problem if the police come to inspect the house and satisfy their desire to see that we are indeed husband and wife. Any suggestions? Or is it just better to leave without a reentry permit and apply for a Non Immigrant O while I am abroad and go through the process again later?

Thanks to Sunbelt and so many others who have given good advice in the past! :o

I assume this is a first extension? If so use this extension provision (below) to obtain a 60 day stay (until your need to travel) and obtain a new non immigrant visa for your return and do the one year extension of stay then.

7.23 In case of entering for

visiting a Thai wife /

husband or child.

The permission shall be

granted only one time with

the granted period not

exceeding 60 days.

(1) Have evidence affirming the

relationship and,

(2) In case of the marriage couple,

the spouse shall have the both

practical and legal relationship.

1. Application form

2. Copy of applicant’s passport

3. Copy of census registration

4. Copy of the Thai national’s ID Card

5. Copy of marriage certificate or birth

Number 11 really made me chuckle. Watch out for 11b, pic of you and missus in bed, to prove it's not 'brother-sister'-type of relationship... :o
