SI SA KET: -- The disappearance last month of a female official from a local administration organisation in Si Sa Ket continues to capture the public’s attention amid serious doubts that she simply decided to quit her job, abandon her child, and cut all contact with her friends and family.

Juthaporn Oun-on, 37, director of the education and culture division of Tambon Cham administration organisation in Kantharalak district, has been missing since July 3.

Despite social media posts stating that she intended to “take a break”, police are continuing to investigate possible motives for her disappearance, including a debt dispute and her relationship with an Army captain who allegedly resold her car.

She was last seen dropping her eight-year-old daughter off at school before going to collect a debt from the officer at an Army camp in Ubon Ratchathani’s Warin Chamrap district.

Days after she went missing, friends and relatives were unable to contact her by phone. However, her Facebook and Line accounts became active on July 7 with messages saying she wanted a break, would resign from work, and that her parents should not worry and should take care of her child.

However, no one believed she would leave her child and her friends insisted that it was not Juthaporn who sent the messages. The family filed a missing person complaint at the Bung Malu Police Station on July 20.

Concerns were raised that Juthaporn might have been abducted after her Toyota Vios car was later found at an Ubon garage after being resold three times.

The inquiry led to the questioning of the unnamed Army captain, who is in his 30s, who was the woman’s close associate. Facing an accusation of reselling her car using fake documents, the Ubon Ratchathani captain has insisted he was innocent.

Police questioned the captain in connection with the mysterious disappearance but subsequently released him from custody without pressing any charges.

Juthaporn’s family urged reporters to follow the investigation as they suggested there might be influence or threats against the family.

A close friend of hers reportedly told police that she had tried in June to collect a debt from the officer at the camp and narrowly escaped an assault.

She added that Juthaporn was determined to collect the debt and again went to the camp on July 3 but did not return.

Another friend said Juthaporn had befriended the captain in November 2015 and they were close.

Her family and friends have insisted that she is not a loan shark, but instead simply generous and a good saver. She reportedly is married to Wittaya Ketkaew, who makes a good salary as a sailor, and she comes from a well-to-do farming family. She had lent money to friends on several occasions.

Following a report that a woman’s body had been found in wooded area on the Thai-Lao border near the Morakot Tringle of Ubon Ratchathani's Nam Yeun district, Wittaya went with local administrative officials to the area late on Saturday afternoon.

Lao police initially did not allow the group to access the spot where the body was found due to a failure to formally coordinate between the two countries, but the team negotiated for a few members including Wittaya to visit the site.

Along the way, they reportedly retrieved three pairs of burned plastic gloves and a piece of a burned rubber boot about one kilometre away from where the gloves were retrieved. However, they were prevented from visiting the spot where the body was located, with Lao authorities saying the vicinity was dangerous due to old land mines. As of press time, Juthaporn’s family was still waiting to determine if it was her body that had been found.

On Friday, local villagers helped to search for Juthaporn in the wooded area, with two villagers who went to the area two days earlier claiming to have smelled something that could be a body decomposing.

Now this is strange. I hope she is ok and found quickly.

my money is on dead as a door nail, RIP

Sounds like the captain is up to his neck in it. So, seemingly, a good girl is dead and a typical Thai male is the culprit. Maybe Thai women should wake up about Thai men. They leave a lot... to be desired. :giggle:

The army captain is oviously covered in it, but will the cops have the balls to do anything about it.. My money is on no, but some social media hype might force theirs and the army's hands... Thoughts are with her family at this time.

Also smh about lending money to people in uniforms here, you might as well gift wrap it for them.. Chances of it coming back are slim i'd say

The boy in green, Again?.

I would like to know why the police released the army captain. He owed her money, he was the person she was going to see before she disappeared, there had been a narrow avoidance of violence previously, and he seems to have sold her car. I might not be Sherlock Holmes, but I believe this man holds all the answers. Be interesting to find out who his daddy is.

I think the moral of the story is never lend money to anyone, leave it

to the banks, RIP lady,as everything points to your demise.

regards worgeordie

Asking for a lot in this country, but hope the culprit is caught and receives an appropriate punishment.

Time for TV desktop and bar stool detectives to sharpen their pencils.

I'm sure there's nothing to see here; Khun Jutthaporn is simply taking a well-deserved holiday.

Eventually she'll "turn up".

Nobody question the army captain? It is so obvious this involved him.

Life is worth nothing for many Thai people. Most of them react like animals when they get angry or mad at something or someone.

A: Why did you kill her?

B: I was mad. she made me lose my FACE.

The last two words might offer a clue.

That the army guy is involved in this is probably something most prople can realize. What I don´t realize is what you are writing from another country or living in Thailand, what so ever.

As you surely know most criminals are men, and that is a fact all over the world. Why would you like the specific Thai woman to wake up and see, all put in one box, how bad the men they have to choose from in their country?

Sound more to me like you have a problem finding a girlfriend, which is not relevant at all in this post.

Most Thai ladies know already that  many Thai man are lazy ,alcoholics and violent ............

If you dont know this ....you must be a "man-lover" ?

Well a lead suspect is clear as day.  Trying to collect a debt from a man of color as Thai's refer to anybody military or police is probably more hazardous then skydiving untrained.  I'm not holding my breath as I fear the worst for her.

Wifes brother went into the army and he transformed into a worse person as a result. So i wonder what kind of environment they are exposed to? He seemed to spend alot of time doing his commanders house up for free.

What could have happened to her?

Went to collect money from an Army Captain and got her car sold.

My money is on she will be found safe and sound and just wanted a break.

Wow that's a nice thought but I think rather optimistic, given the evidence of a debt to an army captain who has proved to be a bit hot tempered when approached before for payment... he also seems to have had a hand in the re-selling of her car !!

I think the police should bring him back in for some serious questioning rather than "did you do it"? "answer no"

ok you can go home !!

Love affair gone wrong maybe. How did he come by the car ?

This is not going to end well I fear.
