Russian ambassador to Sudan found dead in swimming pool

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Russia's ambassador to Sudan, Mirgayas Shirinskiy, was found dead in the swimming pool at his home in Khartoum on Wednesday, the Sudanese police said.

The ambassador, who was known to have suffered from high blood pressure, is believed to have died of natural causes, a spokesman for the police told Reuters.

Sudan's foreign ministry expressed its condolences to Russia in a statement, hailing Shirinskiy's diplomatic efforts.

Died of natural causes? Don't they all?

Only the 4th Russian ambassador to have died under suspicious circumstances this year.  I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

When your ambassadors are mostly fat old men it almost becomes a statistical certainty.

It's a stressful job.   At least it wasn't another body found in a Pattaya swimming pool
