Can some one tell me what is the best way to go from vientiane to sakon  nokhon  i was thinking about take a bus do not know about the cost and time to do this, i want to avoid flying to bangkok and back to sakon nakhon

If memory recals it was about 7 hrs. Cost was about 450 to 550 can remember.

What i do remember is thinking on the way up to Vientiane that there was no way on this earth i would be getting the bus back down. So i forked out for a taxi which really wasnt much better but a dam sight quicker. Again if memory serves about 2500bht.

After this trip it convinced me to buy a car.

Pardon my asking why you are going to Vientiane? If for visa Savannakhet is much closer for you.
