Hi guys,

Only new at this satellite caper and need some help.

Had 2way satellite internet installed the other month, working fine. Had to move the dish the other day to a new location, have got signal but not as good as before. I have been using the Ipstar terminal properties GUI, have signal strength of around 80-85, and EsNO of about 6. My question is what should the EsNO number be. I presume a signal to noise ratio, the greater the number the better the signal, but just wanted to check. My EsNo figure seems to vary greatly through out the day, sometimes quite low.

Regards,

Peter.

It takes a professional to re-align the dish correctly after a move.

I assume you have a clear view of the sky from the dish.

Noise can be affected by nearby sources. Mobile phone masts and the like.

Ideally the dish only looks one way, but in fact it does pick up other signals, "out of the corner of its eye".

This may explain the variations throughout the day.

anybody know an alternative satellite system to the expensive UBC ?

I need to receive the sports channels and news ?

Is there an all singing all dancing system available that avoids monthly subscription?

I live on Samui
