Prince Harry and Meghan Plan UK Return After Six Years

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to relocate to the UK later this month, the BBC understands, ending their period living in the US.

Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to move to a private, non-royal home outside London, according to reports first published by the Daily Telegraph and the Sun.

Their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are due to begin at a British school in September.

King Charles was informed about the planned move on Sunday. However, there are no plans for Harry or Meghan to return to official roles as working members of the Royal Family.

Family informed

The King was not aware of the move before last weekend, but is said to welcome the chance to spend more time with the Sussexes and their children privately.

Prince William and Princess Catherine have also been told about the plans.

The couple and their children visited Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove in Gloucestershire in July. The planned relocation was not discussed during that meeting, which Buckingham Palace described as a "private family occasion".

The visit was significant because it was the first time Charles had seen his grandchildren in person for more than four years.

Harry and Meghan have not travelled to the UK together since 2022, when they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

No return to royal duties

The Sussexes left the UK and stepped back from royal duties in early 2020 before moving to California.

Relations between Harry, Meghan and other members of the Royal Family have been strained since then, although the July meeting was seen as an important development in Harry's relationship with his father.

Despite their planned return, Harry and Meghan will continue to have no official royal role and will remain private individuals.

Security concerns

Security arrangements have been a longstanding source of tension for Harry, particularly when visiting the UK.

The couple's July meeting with Charles was reportedly reconsidered after Harry's request for police protection was rejected.

Last year, Harry lost a legal challenge against the decision to reduce the level of security provided to him and his family in the UK after he ceased to be a working royal and moved to the US.

Harry has previously said concerns over the safety of his wife and children have made him reluctant to bring them to Britain.

Does she have British citizenship?

What VISA will she use, and will Harry need to show income or savings?

No, for a UK Settlement visa she needs to meet the income requirements herself. I would think she will do so, or has already done so, quite easily!

She hasn't been in the UK long enough, so can't have ILR.

It's about education, Harry doesn't want his children speaking Californian, already been enrolled at ''posh school''......

I was referring to the visa not ILR. I believe she had the appropriate visa prior to her marriage to Harry, but she's now been out of the UK for 6 years, so she'll have to start from scratch again.

I am surprised it took them that long to see that the US is the armpit of the world.

Well, that must be why the U.S. remains the most desired destination for people who would like to leave their own countries permanently?

She'll first need to pass the British English exam. She'll also need to apply for a UK Family Visa at a UK visa center in the US and provide her bio and finger prints. Alternatively, if she has any grandparents who had UK citizenship, she could apply for an indefinite Right of Abode and eventually apply for citizenship - so she can join everyone else on the dole.

Do they have bodyguards in the USA? Far more murders there than the UK.

If they have bodyguards in America, take them to the UK. Otherwise they're a lot safer than in America.

Shush up. Or we'll end up with more.

I got a huge kick watching the YouTubes after the World Cup, showing skeptical foreigners having a great time in the USA. Most of them from foreign creators.

Regarding the OP, there's some Royal Watchers claiming that the marriage has almost run its course. I don't wish divorce on anyone, but Harry would be better off shed of her.

Anyone couldn't see that she was a grifter from the start when she came out with the virtue signal of wearing her boyfriend's shirt... since then has been one failed stunt after the other.... now that the American glitterati have rejected her, she has nothing left in America other than the failure that it was... stay tuned for the next chapter in this royal soap opera and then when Billy becomes King Billy will he drop the hammer?

I think we need more diversity in the British Monachy.

So far they're all white Germans with a bit of Greek in them.

I wonder if this move has got anything to do with the ongoing investigation into Harry's non discloure of his past drug use on his visa aplicaion to the US. Trump ordered an investigation and maybe they already know the result and are getting out now to save embarrasment.

On Ventura, there she goes

She just bought some bitchin' clothes

Tosses her head and flips her hair

She got a whole bunch of nothing in there

What a couple of failures.

Once they spent their 30 pieces of silver from selling out Harry's family they were finished. No talent other than backstabbing. So now they come running back to... Harry's family. 😄

How embarrassing. What a pair of losers. 😄

Nah.

Trump loves Britain. No way he'd try to debase us by returning Harry and Rachel. He's not that cruel.

She won't need to take the English language exam as she already speaks English. In time she will need to pass the Life in the UK test but that comes much later. She needs to apply for Settlement visa and of course, full biometrics and other supporting evidence wil be required. Unless she's given a waiver!
