Trump Signature Set for US Dollar Bills in Historic First

The administration of Donald Trump will place the president’s signature on US banknotes, the Treasury Department says, in what would be the first time a sitting president’s name appears on the nation’s currency.

Get today's headlines by email image.png

Treasury officials say the change will coincide with celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Traditionally, American banknotes carry the signatures of the treasury secretary and the US treasurer rather than the president.

Treasury Plans Unprecedented Currency Change

Under the plan, new $100 bills bearing the signatures of Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent are due to begin printing in June. Additional denominations are expected to follow.

Officials describe the move as a symbolic tribute tied to the anniversary of American independence.

Break From Longstanding Practice

Since 1861, US currency has included the signature of the US treasurer along with that of the treasury secretary. The new design would end that long-standing arrangement by replacing the treasurer’s signature with that of the president.

Bills currently in production still carry the signatures of former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who served under former President Joe Biden, and then–US Treasurer Lynn Malerba.

Treasury Secretary Bessent said the decision aims to highlight both the country’s history and the role of the current administration.

“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” Bessent said.

Anniversary Celebrations and Symbolism

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts linked to the nation’s upcoming anniversary. In 1776, the 13 original colonies declared independence from Britain, an event commemorated each year on Independence Day.

Current US Treasurer Brandon Beach said the redesigned currency would continue to represent the country’s economic strength.

“Our currency will continue to stand as a symbol of prosperity, strength and the unshakable spirit of the American people,” he said.

The decision also follows other initiatives that feature Trump’s name as part of anniversary-related commemorations.

Political Response

The announcement drew criticism from some political opponents. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat and long-time critic of the president, attacked the move while referencing rising living costs in the United States.

“Now Americans will know exactly who to blame as they're paying more for groceries, gas, rent and health care,” Newsom wrote on social media.

Earlier this month, a federal arts commission also approved a commemorative 24-karat gold coin carrying Trump’s likeness, another item planned to mark the country’s 250th anniversary.

During Trump’s first presidency, his name also appeared on federal stimulus cheques issued to millions of Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic, an unusual step at the time for government payments.

Wait.

Trumps signature is just TOO BIG for American money.

Won't they need to triple the size of American paper money?

Remember the size of a pound note from many decades ago?

We will need American money AT LEAST that size.

Yet MAGAs will claim it's not a cult

It's a cult.

JIm Jones didn't ask his cult members to pay for their "refreshments". Trump would ask...and MAGAs would gladly pay.

"There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” Bessent said.

Geez, this guy was a major donor for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. It’s yet another pathetic display of institutional sycophancy from a man who clearly values a pat on the head over the dignity of his office.

Time to VOMIT. Again.

He's not only a dictator but a MAD dictator.

Pretty much everything he does is in contrast to values of American democracy. Of course he's too stupid to even know what those are.

I'm hoping for a time when such dictator bills will be made void to be traded in for real American currency.

If his signature is on it, does that mean that he personally is responsible

for this debt note ?

Trump complains about the 'mess' he inherited from Biden, nothing like the mess his successor will have to clean up.

The election was a binary choice between at least acceptable and the criminally corrupt absolute MONSTER that we got (again).

Harris was never my first choice if there had been a real democratic party primary.

Sadly Biden is totally to blame for that not happening.

So your question is straw man GARBAGE.

Even if he was he never accepts personal responsibility for any problem, he always deflects blame, and even if he was legally liable, who's going to enforce that? Surely not his puppet DOJ Bondi.

Heads to big to fit.

Not that he isn't dumb enough to have thought about it. A special orange bank note with his face on one side and his sphincter on the other so that the die hard will have it conveniet to kiss.

Absolutely true.

Except, also, the new Democrats of the past three decades are not the same party, either.

This Fool's name should not be on a plastic outhouse much less a unit of American currency. Those bills will hang over the nation in great shame for decades to come, once this reptilian leader is ousted, shamed, humiliated, and sent into oblivion and obscurity.

Just let the baby do what he wants and keep putting his name on things....

Presidential historian Russell Riley explained that any action taken by a president to name or place his name on any institution can be "just as easily reversed by the next president," noting in 2025 that it was unlikely the Trump name would remain on sites like the Kennedy Center long after he left office.

What a joke,

When a clown goes to the palace he does not become King. The palace becomes a circus.

This have been heavily debated since it first originated in modern form and it was aimed at the new king in town, mr Boris himself, so the correct one came from Turkey was describing Erdogan.

«When an ox enters a palace, it does not become a king; the palace becomes a barn»

And where it is really from is also debated, but attributed to the Circassian people with no exact origin.

So, in timeline form:

  • Ox / barn version: documented by January 14–21, 2022; likely older, but I could not verify a firm earlier textual date.

  • Clown / circus version: documented by January 26, 2022; this looks like the modern English adaptation

I watched the new Peaky Blinders film last night - featured this old English £5 note. Think it got changed as it got forged so much in WW2.

So I had lunch ( rice and chicken ) at a Thai restaurant that I had never been to before, I ate nothing more all that day. That same evening around 9 PM , I started to vomit , which lasted for about an hour. The next day I felt un well and now had a persistent cough and a feeling of a lump in my throat , so I went to a local village doctor who prescribed the following drugs …….

Antibiotic - Co-amoxiclav
Headache – Etoricoxib
Cough + Lung - Acetylcysteine
Coughing – D Coate - Dextromethorphan
Bloating – Simethicone
Constipation - Magnesium hydroxide
Lump in throat ( Omeprazole )

The local doctor also took an X ray of my chest area and said that there was some inflammation spots showing on my lungs.

I took the above local doctor prescribed medication for 6 days , but my symptoms did not get any better . So I then decided to go to a branch of Bangkok hospital and see what the doctors there said about my symptoms ( Symptoms shown below )

1. Continuous  constipation
2. Headache
3 Cough
4. Bilious feeling in the stomach
4. Lump in throat
5. Runny nose
6. Itchy Skin

At the Bangkok hospital I first talked to a GP doctor about my current symptoms and the drugs that I had been prescribed my local doctor , and how even after taking the drugs the local doctor had prescribed ( after 7 days ) I was still feeling no better and still suffering from bad constipation .

Altering listening to my symptoms the GP doctor at the Bangkok hospital , said I should go and see the ENT doctor.

After hearing my symptoms, the ENT doctor said that he needed to see some X rays to get a better insight related to my symptoms .

So I had had several mouth / neck / chest X rays taken , and returned back to the original ENT doctor , to hear his findings , now he had looked at my X rays.

The ENT doctor said that there were no apparent problems in my mouth and neck area , apart from my voice box area being inflamed due to Acid Reflux .

The chest X ray showed some small signs of bronchitis and bloating . The ENT doctor prescribes a range of drugs for the bronchitis .

I had brought with me to the Bangkok hospital a stool sample , so armed with that  stool sample I went to see a Gastroenterologist doctor who after reviewing all the X  rays and hearing about my recent food poisoning episode and the past drugs that the local doctor had prescribed , the doctor had my stool sample analyzed . The stool sample results came back as negative ( clear ) .

The Gastroenterologist doctor said that they would prescribe a range of drugs as shown below ……

1. Sennosides   (  Laxative )
2. Levofloxacin 500mg  ( broad-spectrum antibiotic )
3. Gasmotin 5mg ( used to treat gastrointestinal symptoms )
4. Sinufen 4 mg  ( to treat cough and runny nose caused by infections )
5. Ropect 10 mg  ( to reduce coughing and loosen mucus )
6. Bilaxten 20 mg ( antihistamine )
7. Vocinti 20 mg  ( to treat acid related stomach conditions )
8. Acetylcysteine 600 mg ( treat bronchitis )

So from the original bout of food poisoning now 13 days ago , I’m still not yet feeling really any better and still feel constipated  , I did ask the Bangkok hospital Gastroenterologist doctor , how long would it be before I started to feel much better, and their answer was , If I don’t feel any better after taking the prescribed drugs , just  go back to the hospital.

So I’m now wondering if I’m expecting things to get back to normal far too quickly and may be worrying a bit to much

Thanks

Brilliant.

I think the joke sentence came from a post I didnt complete replying to, but yes, unfortunately this turns out to be the biggest joke God put us through, if there is one, and if this is a simulation, this is a bad joke, but who are we to judge, just see what we put animals through for our own good. A bit far fetched, but still

There's not a more pathetic creature on earth. Apparently starved for attention and adulation and constantly trying to prove he's not an utter failure. I wonder can we add Worst President in US History--Twice under his signature on the bills.
