A 70-year-old woman has died after being attacked by a male pit bull she cared for at a home in Bangkok's Bueng Kum district on 9 September 2026.
Police said the woman was attempting to put a collar on the dog when it attacked her inside the property off Nawamin 111, Soi 7. She was found dead with bite wounds to her neck and hands.
Police find dog covered in blood
Lat Phrao police patrol officers were called at about 6.30pm to reports of a dog attacking its owner at the address in Nawamin subdistrict.
Volunteers from the Pu-In Ruam Jai rescue foundation also attended the scene.
The property consists of two adjoining houses linked by a fence that allows access between them. The homes were undergoing renovation at the time.
Officers found the male pit bull within the grounds, with bloodstains on its body. They initially tried to lure the animal so they could catch it, but it moved away from them.
The dog later went into its own enclosure, allowing officers to bring the immediate area under control.
Investigation continues
The dead woman was identified only as being 70 years old and the dog's carer. Police said their initial inquiry indicated she had brought the dog over to fit it with a collar before the fatal attack occurred.
Investigators examined the scene and questioned people connected with the case to establish the full circumstances and take further action under the relevant procedures.
