Almost impossible to get jobs in a profession like this in Thailand unless you are extraordinarily good in what you do.

IMO, very possible if your good and willing to work for around 80 - 100 thousand THB per month. (if you find work from within Thailand).

Thailand is looking to boot its ICT knowledge through foreign expertise... check out hxxp://www.sipa.or.th. Though I know a lot of people will take this with a grain of salt.

The best web site for jobs is hxxp://www.jobsdb.com. Though you will probably have to be in Thailand. Very unlikely to be hired from overseas.

Alternatively look for a company from within Ireland that does business in Thailand and go for an expat package.

Just some objective advice based on 12 years with an IT multinational in BKK and the occasional hand in hiring over the years :

your options :

a - start your own company or base yourself here and outsource back to the west, maybe with 1 or 2 local thai developers under your wing.

b - it's not what you know it's who you know...contacts, contacts, contacts

c - intra-company transfer to bangkok office/division of multinational (Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, Reuters etc....)

d - you are a leading expert, published, an authority on IT disciplines.Just being yet another bloke with 10+ years of software design/development, unix, networking etc.... wont give you a competetive advantage over here.Too many thais and indians with these skills. And their charge rate is low.

This one is in the wrong section too, will move to Jobs etc

You should try www.jobsdb.com hope this helps...good luck

Why is it almost 90% the IT guys asking for jobs in Thailand?

Could the story of the pale, monkeyfaced lonesome boy with his PC still be true? And if there´s nothing for you to do anymore back home why should Thailand be waiting for you?Especially in IT they are not underdeveloped.Try your luck with a headhunter in LOS they will tell you the best what skills are currently needed, otherwise run a business with customers outside of Thailand.

Perhaps the Philipines can offer you what you´re looking for, too.
