Tony Clifton
Police defuse bomb near residence of Thai prime minister Police explosive experts defused a bomb hidden in a car near the residence of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and detained a suspect Thursday, police said. "The bomb experts have defused the bomb and the car is being towed to a safe place for further checking," police said. Police detained an army officer, identified as Lt Thawatchai Klinchana, driver of the car whose bore fake license. He was taken to the police Crime Suppression Division for interrogation. Two sticks of dynamite, each weighing 0.45 kilograms, and some fertilizer were discovered inside the vehicle. Pol Maj Gen Aswin Khwanmuang, deputy chief of the Central Investigation Bureau, said that 4.5-kilogram bomb was found in the car belonging to Thawatchai. ITV reported that the vehicle was driven back and forth near Thaksin's residence and a security guard of the prime minister urged police to chase and stop it. The Nation How convenient, after the blown coverup of hired thugs to beat up protestors, now they plant a bomb near Thaksin's house, well, 400 meters from the premier’s residence. Simply another attempt from Thaksin's side to confuse the public. Just wait and see, it's too obvious. Tony Clifton
You really want to drive back and forth near your bombing target for your mission to be successful. Thaksin has just declared a war against him by sacking Gen Pallop. Oh well, he won't have to bother with all these trials against him.
stumonster
Bomb attack 'bid' near PM's houseFrom correspondents in Bangkok August 24, 2006 THAI police said today they had stopped what they believed to be preparations for a bomb attack on Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's house in Bangkok. A man they had been following for several days was detained after he parked a car at a busy intersection near Mr Thaksin's house and police found ingredients for a fertiliser bomb inside it, police said. "What we found was urea fertiliser packed in a 10-gallon jerry can that could be made into a bomb, but the bomb had not been put together," a policeman at the scene said. hammered
So you pack a bunch of fertilizer into a can and throw a couple os sticks into the back of your car. But you dont bother assembling the device. Then you drive repeatedly around the house of your target. That target is a very high profile person and there are securtiy guards around his residence. Hmmmm sounds exactly how an expert would conduct a bombing! By the way any mention of detonators?

Maejo Man
First it's a "TNT type bomb" then it's a fertiliser bomb. With an unassembled bomb the bomber drives past his target multiple times!! No mention of how he was going to detonate it. Diversionary tactics, it's all smoke and mirrors Edited August 24, 2006 by Maejo Man

Its all just a simple mix up..... The good Lt. was just looking for the PM's house so he could do some gardening..... He had to blast out a couple of dead tree stumps and then use the fertilizer while planting the covering flower garden. Now why is everyone "blowing this up" out of proportion. Cripes a guy can't even show his appreciation to the nice PM. He probably wasn't even going to charge him.

cclub75
Great. It's getting more and more confusing. And as usual, we have a mixing of infos, rumors, facts, false facts. And at the end of the day, the plot would be : -a red bicycle -a fireworks sticked to it -an officer with a sport cap, drunk, who bas pedaling around the area, back and forth with a T-shirt "Thaksin aow pai, I'm a terrorist khrap". But meanwhile, the "immediate" dismissal of the boss of ISOC is... disturbing. Difficult times ahead...
