libya 115
SOURCE: Pattaya People: April 20th 2007 Drunken Woman Stuck Above Foodland At 11.30 pm on 19th April, Wan Lai Pattaya’s Songkran day, people were still splashing water at each other and celebrating all over the city. However, other than all the fun, Pattaya Police Chief, Pol. Col. Sutin Sappuang received a report that a drunken woman, aged around 25, had climbed up the 15 metre high sign at the Foodland Supermarket on Central Pattaya Road. A Mr. Yohan, who is retired from the German army and now living in Thailand, climbed up to rescue her because it looked like in the drunken state that she was in she could have fallen down at any time. The Sawang Rescuers were quickly at the scene getting prepared to assist the man because he was getting rather exhausted. The rescuers secured the safety belt for Mr. Yohan to help the woman and very soon both came down safely. The woman was immediately taken to the hospital for a checkup. Everyone was relieved that it turned out well and Pattaya Police Chief Sutin thanked Mr. Yohan for helping because if it weren’t for him, who knows what could have happened? libya 115
It appears from this news report that a threat of suicide played a part....... SOURCE: Pattaya City News: April 20th 2007 German comes to the rescue as Woman threatens to Jump from Foodland sign. A bizarre incident now from Foodland in Central Pattaya. Police Colonel Sutin, the Chief of Pattaya Police along with fire rescue workers responded to a call received from staff at Foodland who reported a crazed female who had climbed a 30ft high sign at the front of the Supermarket and was threatening to jump. Disregarding his own safety a German man, Mr. Yohan also climbed the sign and held the woman down until rescuers arrived. He was commended for his actions by the Chief of Police. The disturbed woman who was later found to be the former wife of a Security Guard working at Foodland was safely brought down and transported to Hospital. It appears that she had gone to the Supermarket on Wednesday Night in an attempt to restart her previously failed relationship with the Guard. Attempts at reconciliation failed leading the woman to commit this desperate act. She is now under the care of doctors at Banglamung Hospital who are currently accessing her mental state. Humphrey Bear
She was trying for marital reconciliation Police were called out to Foodland supermarket after reports that a Thai woman had managed to clamber aboard the display signboard. Initial report6s said she was crazy but it then became clear she had been drinking. A foreigner, known only as Mr Johannes, tried to go to her help by climbing the structure and uttering words of comfort. Eventually, a cherry picker arrived on the scene and the lady was escorted in safety the 20 meters or so to ground level. It then became clear why she had taken no notice of would be helpers – she was unconscious. Later, in hospital, it was learned that she was the ex-wife of a security guard working in Pattaya Klang and wanted to get back in his favour by a spectacular show of daring. He, however, wanted nothing more to do with her. Pattaya Today - 9 May 2007
