My wife works on the 28th floor just North Of Central Ladphrao on Phayonyothin. Got so shaky that they evacuated. Its a new building so maybe they were being extra careful.

On the other hand my domestic servants on the 12th floor near Ekamai and Rama 9 didn't feel a thing.

(I just returned home)

Anyone know about construction standards in Thailand? (The building in which I live is about 30 floors and was constructed about 10 years ago).

I'm sitting in my apartment on the 21st floor in Bangna. I didn't feel a thing. But I've always wondered... If a big quake did come, this 30 story condo building would be flattened for sure.

Building Management suggests everyone to evacuate.

Early evening down the pub? :o

wow elsie...i need to move :o

phormio...Im on 26th floor in same/similar area as your house....and we definitely felt it here!

I work on the 19th floor and everyone from the building have gone downstairs and are hanging around outside on the road. Good excuse for a quick chat and a snack.

My wife just said she felt the ground move !!

Not all of us Ash. You stayed just long enough to start this thread before running out screaming like a little girl. The rest of us stayed here laughing at you :o

Called Phrae, and all is good there. No answer from friends in Mae Sai near the epicentre but that's not unusual.

Your only jealous of my selection of treats from the shop downstairs. :o

Definitely felt it here in Chiang Kham around 16:00. Duration about 20 seconds, caused house to shake and water in pails to form small waves on top. No damage, though. My first earthquake experience. Gave me kind of a woozy feeling.

and the nation's report:

Glad you said that, thought I was going to need to go in for a medical exam for dizzy spells - felt like I was swimming in my chair.

Didnt feel a thing. Building being evac though, although we have a choice to stay.

....well Im not going to use the stair to get down from the 14th floor only to risk getting hit by falling debris at the bottom....so Im in the office looking out the window

This was for sure the biggest quake I ever felt in Chiang Mai. Also different from all the small tremors I felt before it which were very short up-down things, IF I felt them at all. This was more prolonged and side-to-side. Weird woozy feeling, though nothing I don't experience just about every Friday night out. :o

Definitely felt it in Chiang Mai.

I had the exact same feeling. And the same health check up crossed my mind...
