Emergency - Sending Dog From Thailand To Uk

Featured Replies

it's taken since july to get to this stage...i'm trying to get my golden retriever back to the uk. it's complicated by the fact that while the dog is with my wife in LOS i am here in sunny darlington!

everything was all set to go when the airline decided that the crate wasn't big enough. now amazingly they don't have a list of suppliers (think of all that commision they are missing out on!) and my wife is apparently having some difficulty finding a crate that is big enough.

apparently it needs to be at least 120cms long.

does anyone know anyone who has one they are willing to sell, or of a supplier that has one ready to go.

my wife is based in pattaya, and the dog should be leaving on saturday night (13/10). PLEASE HELP!!!!

120 cm long means you need an extra large crate. That's the size for a Saint Bernard!. You must have a very big Golden then! How long is he from tip of nose till tail onset? Because, that's the correct measurement, not till the tip of the tail! If the dog is going cargo and the crate is XL in stead of L, then you pay an awfull lot more money.

I don't know where you can buy crates in Pattaya, your wife can try the petshops. Or she can call The Pet Place in Bangkok, branch: Central Pinklao B Floor, Food Lion Phuttamontol Sai 2, Tel.: 02 884 8440 and sai 3: 02 888 1535 or call Mrs. Sun 081 638 1321. The latter is a number from some years ago. Not sure if it is still correct.

I'm not sure they have Vary kennels. At the time I ordered one they only had Clippers. Both are good for internatinal travel, though. As long as you ask for an extra large. I think for a Clipper that's size 8, as a large Clipper kennel is size 7. Price is definitely above 10,000 baht, probably around 13,000 baht.

The Pet Place supplies, among many others things the kennels for Chiang Mai, so I assume they have.

Wish you good luck.

the cage we already have is 103cms long. apparently it's not long enough for the dog. to be honest it sounds like the airline want to milk me for the money. which is a bit rich...when i was back over in thailand i went to the airport to pay for things, just to try and chivvy things a long (after spending most of the summer trying to get the send the documents to the agent through his nonfunctioning email inbox and incompetent staff). i paid just over 47000 baht, and because it's a bigger box it'll be another 8500 baht. i could put the dog in business class for that much money.

but thanks for the info...will pass on to the missus.

just spoke to my wife this morning and apparently the airline/agent want another 37000 baht because we are going to be having a bigger crate. :o

that makes 84000 baht in total (don't know if this includes the case). forget getting a business class seat to send the dog home, i think i can start thinking about chartering a private plane!!! :D

Did your wife take the measurements of the dog (top head to ground and tip nose to tail onset)? If the dog can lie down and stand comfortable in the crate without too much space around, then that should be the size of the crate. Too big of a crate is not safe for the animal.

You must have a huge Golden ...

Anyway, it sounds to me that it is cheaper when you come back and take the dog as excess luggage. :o One of my customers has done that from Germany.

I have travelled with my dog a number of times and strongly reccommend hiring somebody to take care of all the details. The one time that I didn't do this, I ended up paying double.

I use www.boomerangpetcarrier.com - they are SO FANTASTIC I won't use anybody else. They will arrange all of the paperwork, pick your pooch up from your house, and take care of ALL THE DETAILS.

Take a look at their site and fill out the Quotation Form to get a price.

Have fun!
