wayner
A friend of mine (American seeking ILR in the UK) stupidly applied for his ILR 2 or 3 days too late. He was asked to leave the UK immediately. He's now kicking himself and feeling miserable in the states being apart from his wife and child. I was wondering how this would be viewed and would this effect the application for another visa to come back to the UK? Any help would be great Thanks
the scouser
Having left the UK, your friend should make a new application for a settlement visa (I presume his wife is British?). It should be apparent to the visa officer that his relationship with his wife is genuine, and that the overstay was not only minimal, but an oversight. Scouse.
