You need a digital sat receiver with a dish pointed at Hotbird, you CAN use a Sky box with a second dish. Only one channel Thai International, there is also a Buddist channel with Thai audio on the same bird. We were watching from Brussels on a regular Sky mini-dish no problem (exept when it rained). As a 'bonus' you get a bunch of European and African / Arab channels including Al Jazeera.

If you broadband there are several online stations, picture quality is pretty crumby though, details on the same link.

We had Tv-cabo put a dish up a year ago , cost £199 , no subscription fees , has Thai TV network plus 900 other channels , including prem football , a few porn channels and a load of other &lt;deleted&gt;. The Thai channel isn't great but offers game shows,music,soaps and best of all Muay Thai. Imagine having no UK/US/Euro Tv in Los?

Whereabouts are you in the UK? These people are Home Counties based and provide the service , the chap who fitted mine isn't associated with them but they have a few installers who will cover large areas. Remember to specify you need a package that has Thai-TV Global Network.

sattelite dish pointing to hotbird, digital receiver is all you need.

Only one channel in thai available in the western hemisphere.

look at www.lyngsat.com for more info on the other channels

if you add an lnb to the same dish you can also get astra which cerries skytv.

I don't have to imagine. I don't need it, although I may get it one day.

As for Thai TV, well. I try not to let my daughter watch too much. Kids are brainwashed into thinking white skin is beautiful and dark skin is not. Take a look at the lakhon(soaps). They are full of half-casts(look kreung) and chinese Thais. All the rich people are white. All the servants have dark skin. Then in between, all the commercials seem to be Dove whitening cream and others. Even in the adverts, everyone is white!

The news channel is good, although the documentaries are not up to much like the BBC.

Football is ok, and actuall I prefer not to hear that ###### Motson commentating. The Thai commentators know their football and don't give all the bs.

Occasionally there is some decent music.

If we were in the UK for a while we would probably get it for the music and karaoke, local news. But definately not for those "lakhon" or "lang khao""after news" rubbish.

A few years ago I bought a dish, Nokia digital receiver, digital LMB and set the system up myself. I'd never set up a satellite system before. It was a reasonably easy process.

The Nokia receiver had a signal strength meter that allowed me to fine tune the dish. I was located in the Middle East but the footprint of Hotbird 3 covered most of Europe.

1. Find the general location of Hotbird3. (13 Degrees E, ARABSAT is close to it)

2. Point the dish in that direction.

3. Fine tune the dish and LMB by slowly moving them until you get the strongest signal strength.

4. Set the Nokia receiver to search for the channels available on Hotbird. It was preset for most of the European satellites.

5. Sit back and enjoy plenty of free time while your missus is glued to Thai TV Global for days on end.

Edited to add more info. There are plenty of free to air channels available. Thai TV Global, DW, Travel channel, Music and lots more that I can't remember.
