to the British Embassy.?

Price upto 1500 a night.

We will be applying for visitor visas and need

to be at the Embassy early on.

We want to stay nearby because we will have

We always stay at the Malaysia Hotel http://www.hotelthailand.com/bangkok/malaysia/

It is clean and inexpensive.

It is a relatively short taxi ride from the embassy (10 mins) - I wouldn't travel any other way with two children in BKK.

I like it here, not far from the embassy and close to the restaurants etc.

It's a nice place indeed and despite the fact that new management has jacked-up the prices a bit it's still good value and good location. :o

Just posted this on another thread about hotels:

"I usually find that the Prince on Petchaburi @ B700 for double occupancy (B600 single) is plenty good with swimming pool and unlimited breakfast buffet included. Also it is nice and clean, though some rooms are nicer than others. Check out your room before accepting. I think 6th and 7th are the better floors."

Very close to UK embassy and I see lots of families staying here. Somewhat quiet as it is set back off of Petchaburi a little. Not sure what they charge for children in room. Maybe they will even bargain a little, but never tried as I thought it was good value for the money in BKK (though more than half of what I paid monthly for nice 2 bedroom house in Mae Rim).

Don't know if they have website but here are their details:

Prince Hotel

1537/1 New Petchburi Road

Bangkok 10310

As for the holiday Mansion mentioned by Dragonman, I have this which is on Wireless road. Doubt you can get much closer than that...

Asia Travel is good, but it seems that Asia travel's current rate is B1,800 double occupancy (incl tax and service). Plus you pay B500 per extra bed per night unless kids sleep with you. Another discount site said that u also pay extra for kid's breakfasts, but not sure if this is true. Best to call them and verify, if this hotel is what you want. :o

As Lopburi guys says, Golden palace is highly recommended, cheap (85/900 baht) and nearby. I stay there whenever I have a job on at the Embassy, its walking distance.

I'd like to thank everybody for their most helpful replies.

That's what this forum is all about.

Derek,

Khon Kaen.

You bet! :o

Hey Derek, be sure to let us know which places you check out and where you stay and your impressions, so that we have an objective, up to date report.

Next time I'm in BKK I want to check out Classic Place Hotel, if I can get a good price. If you are staying 4 nights you may want to check out this deal:

http://asiatravel.com/classicplace/index.html

Looks like quite a nice place and since it is 4 nights for the price of 3 and at a discounted rate the total for dbl occ is less than B4,000 (incl tax and service) for the 4 nights, and this includes some nice extras.

Here is their own website: http://www.classicplace.co.th/index.asp

If interested, you might contact them directly, mention the internet ad and see what they will do, even if you are not staying 4 nights.
