It is a relatively short taxi ride from the embassy (10 mins) - I wouldn't travel any other way with two children in BKK.

meom
It's a nice place indeed and despite the fact that new management has jacked-up the prices a bit it's still good value and good location.

Thanks in advance, Derek Khon Kaen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just posted this on another thread about hotels: "I usually find that the Prince on Petchaburi @ B700 for double occupancy (B600 single) is plenty good with swimming pool and unlimited breakfast buffet included. Also it is nice and clean, though some rooms are nicer than others. Check out your room before accepting. I think 6th and 7th are the better floors." Very close to UK embassy and I see lots of families staying here. Somewhat quiet as it is set back off of Petchaburi a little. Not sure what they charge for children in room. Maybe they will even bargain a little, but never tried as I thought it was good value for the money in BKK (though more than half of what I paid monthly for nice 2 bedroom house in Mae Rim). Don't know if they have website but here are their details: Prince Hotel 1537/1 New Petchburi Road Bangkok 10310 Tel: (02) 251 6171-6 Fax: (02) 251 3318 GM: Supon Bumroongsook

Nordlys
and here... http://www.centrepoint.com/Locations/wireless_a.aspx Behind Ayuddhaya Bank directly across the road from the British Embassy. It's a serviced apartment and you can stay from one night. Very nice facility. I believe it's within B1,500 price range.

Plus you pay B500 per extra bed per night unless kids sleep with you. Another discount site said that u also pay extra for kid's breakfasts, but not sure if this is true. Best to call them and verify, if this hotel is what you want.

I stay there whenever I have a job on at the Embassy, its walking distance.

Hey Derek, be sure to let us know which places you check out and where you stay and your impressions, so that we have an objective, up to date report. Next time I'm in BKK I want to check out Classic Place Hotel, if I can get a good price. If you are staying 4 nights you may want to check out this deal: http://asiatravel.com/classicplace/index.html Looks like quite a nice place and since it is 4 nights for the price of 3 and at a discounted rate the total for dbl occ is less than B4,000 (incl tax and service) for the 4 nights, and this includes some nice extras. Here is their own website: http://www.classicplace.co.th/index.asp If interested, you might contact them directly, mention the internet ad and see what they will do, even if you are not staying 4 nights.
