Well, when you think about it, there is a smidgen of truth in that. Where I come (central British Columbia) from it's almost entirely white, with a few Natives and Chinese (who, of course, run Chinese restaurants).

Further south, where the weather is a bit more temperate, the cultural diversity expands considerably. Funny what the difference of a couple hundred kilometers makes.

There have been times when I thought I was crazy living where I was, and I'm not that far north. Like the time I was working alone back in the mountains, 50+ kilometers from the next nearest human being. Winter time and heading up into the mountains during a freezing rainstorm (on a ski-doo). When I got to the start point, I had to walk to a tree and bang my shoulders against it, to break the ice off the straps of my backpack.

The nice part was, 10 hours later I was back home, snug, dry and warm next to the heater, thinking about what a great day it had been, and looking forward to going back again the next morning !
