It would be helpful to know what country (Australia?) and type of visa being applied for?

The interview is for your girl....you do not need to attend..if they want more information from you, you will be called to the Immigration office in Perth for an interview. They will do this by way of a letter to you.

Most communication in the first instance will be by regular mail not e mail.
