    The US has been supporting dictators in South America who were mass murdering the opposition for decades. Their centuries long and current dealing with indigenous people in "their" country is a very sad thing too. I know that my country has done horrific things in the past and the current government is useless too but i won't make an attempt to defend them.

    There are regular normal busses but they are not songthaews. You talk about only cheap hotels which is BS too. Never saw a songthaew in BKK in 40 years.

    Never seen the red trucks too and i live 10 minutes walk from the MRT. Not far from the MRT are several big hotels.one of them Swissotel Ratchada Bangkok - Luxury & Upscale Hotel in Bangkok | ALL - ALL (accor.com)

    Never seen a songtaew near HK MRT. A couple of meters from the HK MRT is Park Residence hotel: Microsoft Bing Travel - The Park Residence @ Bangkok

    The resort owner is required by law to register their quests with the police on the first day of arrival. This has been needed for years. Complain with the idiots at the resort instead of the people at immigration.

    They collect: glass, carton, plastic, wood, iron .. Prices per kilo, get a couple of hundred thb if you have loads.

    I don't think any insurance company would refund you the money you spend on restoring. Your emotional loss and the money you spend on it won't be covered from my point of view.
