  1. I have 8.1 as well, so here's what to do.

    1. If you're using the desktop, hit the Windows key to take you to the Start menu with the tiles.
    2. Right click the app you don't want anymore and choose Uninstall.

Alternatively, right click the app you don't use much and choose "Unpin from start". This will remove it from the Start page, but will leave it installed.

  2. Good sized boot by the looks of it, at least space isnt taken up with a bloody LPG can.

    taxi.png

    These taxis could be great.

The Toyota Prius is a hybrid electric vehice hence the lack of the usual LPG tank taking up half the luggage space.

We have a similar type in Amsterdam and they're practically silent when driving. http://www.taxielectric.nl/en/home

The only problem here is that you can't rely on just your ears when crossing the road. Even if you can't hear anything, there could still be a giant electric truck bearing down on you and you really do need to look both ways when crossing the road.

  3. Looks from the latest reports that the bar manager and the security guard conspired to kill the Turkish guy because he would often cause trouble in the bar. http://www.samuitimes.com/pub-security-guard-manager-arrested-killing-turkish-man/

The only 'mafia' connection was on the part of the Turkish guy who liked to think of himself that way according to locals. He never had a gun though and the one he was found holding had been planted there by the bar manager in order to make it look like self-defence.

Unfortunately for him, several CCTV cams caught him planting the gun.

  4. Well, as others have remarked, this is Thailand and cluttered up sidewalks and pushcarts are all part of their culture.

But you'll be treated differently because you're a foreigner. Thais have this mistaken belief that all foreigners are filthy rich and they want some of it. So as soon as a foreigner wants to buy something, the price goes ballistic.

My gf bought some sliced watermelon from one of those pushcarts once and was charged 20 Baht which I thought was cheap. So the next day I thought I'd go buy some for myself. The lady sliced it up nicely for me and gave me a giant cocktail to use, but then asked me for 70 Baht. I told her I was there yesterday when my gf bought some and she only had to pay 20 Baht so why should I have to pay more than three times the price?

She kind of scowled at me and then grabbed another big slice of watermelon, sliced that up and handed it to me. So she was willing to give me a little more for my money, but no way was she going to give me the extra 50 Baht back.

I didn't argue about it, but vowed never to buy anything from her again.

  5. Ridiculous price like you say, but it's the wrong flavor anyway. The one I want is called "Smooth & Creamy". The packet is almost the same color though, so one has to be careful when ordering.

  6. Only fives times the original price so better than I found before... must be due to the category they have it listed under... Meat Seasoning... facepalm.gif

Thanks, but wrong flavor. I looked at the original called "Smooth & Creamy" which is the one I want, but they're asking around $25 a bag which is tantamount to daylight robbery.

Have to laugh at the "3 New" for how many they have in stock. Does that mean they sell secondhand coffee as well? biggrin.png

  7. Cut prices and use bigger aircraft like the A321 which is a stretched version of the A320s the airline currently uses instead. Since the two types are very similar, pilots only need minimal training to switch to the larger aircraft. Fernandez could probably do a deal with Airbus to swap some of his existing fleet for the larger model.

Probably the biggest problem though is the lack of suitable airports. Phuket International for example is building another terminal to raise passenger numbers to 12.5 million, but it still only has a single runway which limits both landings and takeoffs. Since there's no suitable land nearby to develop a secondary runway, there's not much room for expansion there.

Koh Samui is owned by Bangkok Airways which charges other carriers a small fortune to land there.

AirAsia X, the airline's international offering hasn't taken off [sic] as expected and I certainly wouldn't want to travel long haul in a cramped cabin such as their domestic routes use.

So yes, they've got a problem on their hands.

  8. Here is a picture of the one price box EMS sticker

still trying to figure it out ,

    somewhere it said you could use up to "D" size box , 22cm x 35cm x 14cm

but another place said there was Small Medium and large boxes but no size measurements.....

    I need 24 x 28 and at least 10cm thick

    anyway stii GOOGLING

Here's a pix of the larger EMS boxes with sizes and price.

Here's the link to other boxes which they have available: http://www.thailandpost.com/service.php?sid=21&page=2

But I would hazard a guess and say that if you want to send by EMS, it'll have to be an EMS designated box.

  9. Thai Post Office used to be a bit iffy a few years ago....think that they where looking for money sent to the girls from overseas....now they seem to have put there house in order...never had a problem both sending and receiving.....my tip would be EMS Tracking and don't forget a customs sticker marking it NCV....

Well, it'll be heading to the Netherlands which has strict import regulations especially where foodstuffs are concerned. Not wise to try and circumvent those.

But provided the value of package doesn't exceed €700, import duty is only 2.5% with 6% VAT added to that. Mine won't be anywhere near that so taxes won't amount to much more than about €5 at the most.

But I'll certainly add EMS Tracking as an option.

  10. Maybe somebody, or more than one person is using up your bandwidth. You can check with this free software: http://www.whoisonmywifi.com/homeuser/

Alternatively, disconnect WiFi and connect to your router with a RJ45 Ethernet cable. If you've got Windows 8.1 installed, you can place the computer in Aeroplane mode as a double safety precaution if you do discover someone snooping around.

If you do find something untoward, you can use a free application called CrowdInspect. It's the tool at the foot of the page on this site: http://www.crowdstrike.com/community-tools/

Create a manual System Restore point before you install the first one so that if it causes any issues on your system, you can wind back the clock to the time prior to installing it.

CrowdInspect on the other hand is a portable app and doesn't need to be installed.

  11. When I use my VPN with chrome, my local IP address and public IP address are both blank. I get the exact same result when I turn the VPN off and use chrome. With or without the VPN, I'm invisible.

I use Firefox rather than chrome, but in FF, there's an option to set Flash to "Ask to activate". If FF is configured that way, your real IP won't show.

Maybe you have something similar in Chrome enabled.

  12. Didn't work for me. Will keep researching.

The fix is working for me on Firefox, but the Google Chrome extension is not working for me in Chrome.

    Anyone with any suggestions?

    The UAC is enabled.

These are the instructions for ZenMate, but should still work for other VPNs as well: https://support.zenmate.com/hc/en-us/articles/201259661-How-can-I-protect-myself-from-IP-leaks-caused-by-Flash-or-WebRTC-#Chrome_FP

  13. This took place at the end of 2013, not this year. The first ATM to be affected was located in Kiev, Ukraine which started churning out large numbers of banknotes without anyone being present in front of the machine one day. Those were promptly snapped up by the locals who saw the opportunity as a gift from the stars.

According to the Dutch banking organisation, they weren't affected by the heist in spite of reports to the contrary.

This story might have something to do with the Gonzi Virus which was regarded as a sophisticated piece of malware capable of stealing money from customers accounts worldwide.

The FBI has already extradicted the virus developer, one Nikita Kuzmin who just happens to be the 25 year old foster son of one of Russia's well-known rock musicians by the name of Vladimir Kuzmin.

Not exactly an asset to further your career having a close relative facing 95 years in jail for fraud in the family.
