Excellent post....and 5 of his posts are about ladyboys! Bit of pot calling kettle black here I think. I've been an expat for over 40 years and it has been the same oil every country I have lived. You get invited to a dinner party and everyone there is from the same country or region and slags off the natives. Thailand is an easy mark because the corruption here makes it easy to be arrogant and ignore laws. At my doctor's, I am invited in to see the doctor as soon as I walk into the place. I haven't asked for such treatment and I see the glares from the locals who have been sitting there waiting. If you add to this arrogance the number of people here who drunk excessively every day and you have a heady mixture of aggressiveness and arrogance. It won't be long before the punches start being thrown. Having said that, go out on a Saturday night in Manchester and see the quality drinkers in action.

Older Diesel Cars to Undergo Stricter Inspections to Curb Pollution
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Would it be possible to get trucks like the 'smoker' in the OP's pic off the roads, or will tighter inspections simply include a note that the vehicle is smoking and let the driver do what he wants to about it? Or will a small bribe simply take away the problem. In the UK the MOT scares drivers half to death, whereas here in Thailand the MOT is nothing to fear. -
I'm not usually with mainstream choices but I am with this. I have always felt EVs to be a con, foisted on the unsuspecting public by tone deaf governments who have also foisted on us, washing machines that don't clean properly and vacuum cleaners that don't pick up. In the US the dead heads in government tried to mandate EVs, and if we have a proper non brain dead president in the future will have to revise this. I see the logic of Hybrids. I rented one in the UK, a Korean car called an Ioniq. It did over 80 mpg over a month's varied driving. I haven't seen this brand in Thailand though. I looked at a Toyota HEV but it was 1.2 million baht for a car that might have cost only 800,000 if it were an ICE.....and 400,000 buys a lot of petrol.

Another Jail Sentence for Holocaust Denier “Nazi Grandma”
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think this German law is ridiculous and surely it is against the ECHR laws to lock a 90 odd year old lady up. Her views are not doing anyone any harm and she hasn't been front page news sine the stupid Germans decided to jail her. Good luck to the lady. -
Thai PM Faces Conflict Claims Over Real Estate Policy Change
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What might be the reasons for buying a condo in Thailand? To live in with the world wide taxation hanging over your head? As a vacation home? Maybe, but I would like to know about major changes that are put to shareholder vote, and I would want voting rights. As a rental for investment purposes? Well I wouldn't. What I would do is to visit some old condos 30 to 50 years old, and see that shape they are in and what sort of charges one might be hit with to fix them structurally and aesthetically. -
'Mong'. I like that word, not heard it used since I was 14. Thank you for this addition to my vocabulary as in: "many mongs think they get a good deal when they meet a girl in a bar and pay to have sex with her. But he doesn't know that she hands some over to her family and most of it over to her brother or Thai boyfriend to pay for his motorcycle and his other girlfriends."

No I always thought Biden was a demented criminal loser and now I am sure of it. If the Dems pick someone decent and clean, someone anti-war with the moral compass that everyone in Washington lacks (someone like Tulsi) then I will vote for her. If it is Biden, Harris, Killary, the vile Newsom or any other Democrat loser, I'll vote for Trump.
-
Let's face it Trump was ordinary and not exceptional. I think he felt so sorry for Biden that he couldn't put the knife in to a demented President Biden which only shows Trump's inner humanity. Biden was a disgrace to the presidency. Some Reps in Congress who actually care about the country, should put the knife in with Art 25 proposal to get rid of Biden now instead of having 6 more months of misrule.

Police Commission Votes to Remove 'Big Joke' from Service
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nor will you. The evidence free accusation has becmne the weapon of choice against honest men. Think of Assange...accused by Swedish women that he raped them. But they dropped out after the UK had nabbed him and stuck him in jail. I am very sad about this guy.....he seemed competent and honest....but appearances deceive. I feel I have been naive believing in him....but the kangaroo court which I didn't see is not full of honest men now is it?- 102 replies

Thai PM Defends Changes to Property Rules for Foreign Buyers
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm a foreigner, these changes don't make me want to buy into a condo, new or second hand. I am I out of the mainstream? Is this a big deal to most foreigners? Another point.....this move reeks of desperation. Is the economy much, much worse that we have been told it is? -
Have you had COVID or the mRNA vaccine? These can cause long term weakness and fatigue. If you wish to follow up I have a couple of recent articles from the Guardian where readers have had a bad time. I have had a very hard time trying to persuade any Thai doctor to investigate my fatigue problem, even though I have hard evidence that it started around the time I had the vaccines. Is your BP adequately controlled? There are so many different types of medicine for BP control that you should be able to find a combination of low doses of different classes that will be low side effects/high efficacy. I took the lowest available dose of 3 different types of BP medication and had good control with no side effects. I now take the lowest does of atenolol 25 mg and my BP is perfect....a bit low really.

Classrooms in Louisiana Must All Display Ten Commandments
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
10 commandments are strictly OT. Christians are supposed to get moral guidance from Jesus who in the New Testament (he came to clear away the old Covenant and replace with his two commandments ie ) Love god and 2 Love thy Neighbour 10 commandments are strictly a Jewish things and nothing to do with Jesus (he rebelled against the Jews remember). I lived 20 years in the US and despite a high level of professed religiosity I never met a single Christian....they were all OT brethren with 'eye for an eye' high on their agendas, no sign of Christian thought as spoken (at least recorded as such) by the actual historical Jesus. The place to understand Christianity is thousands of pages away in the OT, the book Jesus discarded, ir is in the Sermon on the Mount also known as the beatitudes....remember, this was the treasonous one "And the last shall be first etc etc" and made Jesus a threat to the jewish hierarchy. -
