Aftermath of the Trump Assassination Attempt Staring into the Abyss
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I have left wing sympathies on many issues but how vile is it to see a man shot for the left then to try to "shape the narrative to their advantage." Sickening. -

Vance, the POTUS after Trump. Great pick, given my number 1 issue which is the carnage in Ukraine. Shame there is no one in Congress apart from AOC who feels the same way about Israel.

Thailand Leaves Out Certain Groups from Digital Wallet Project
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Gobbledegook. What is financial management? Is this a sneaky way of saying that the financial management of the project will cast almost as much as the project itself? Who is doing the "financial management"? Who are the two unidentified groups? -
Outstanding questions remain about new visa rules for Thailand
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Is it obligatory for every government scheme to get cocked up at the implementation phase. You are successful in business when implementation becomes the strategy (think about it). Thais seem great at brainstorming ideas but are lost when it comes to turning those ideas into a good business or official improvement for their transactions. Cocking everything up is not a good strategy. -
International Thai driving license driving in Japan
retarius replied to mrmicbkktxl's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I drove on an International licence from Britain in Japan for several months, and in Thailand for several months on an international licence from Japan. I is my (unverified) impression that the international licence scheme requires all countries to respect the licence wherever it comes from. Having said that the Japanese test is very difficult and in no way comparable to the Thai test. -

Thailand’s EV 3.0 policy faces major oversupply challenges
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Does this mean they will get cheaper? I like the look of that BYD Atto, now I have been against EVs but if I could get an Atto for 500K I might be in the market for it. -

Shocking surge: Thai electricity tariffs set to spark debate
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
KhunLA you seem to know a lot about this. I'm pretty much a dud with electricity and avoid it like the plague, but my electric bills are 22,000 per month (we have 10 A/c units and 3 phase electricity).....going down to 10-11,000 if we are out of the country and have only staff at the house. We have acres of space for solar panels on our roofs of the 4 single storey buildings in the compound, but the main house is two stories and would be impossible to service or clean without scaffolding. I don;t have an electric car and understand that the charging for such a vehicle costs USD$8000 to install. I'd like to be off grid if possible. Do you know any reputable company in Isaan that might provide a quote for such a job? Thanks. -

Thai MP aims to ‘stimulate’ economy with sex industry legalisation
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think it should be legalised....both for the girls and for the punters. Then let it flourish. I don't avail personally but for the good of mankind offer my opinion. -
You know what, extreme partisanship on either side incites violence in themselves and others around them. I think hate speech is a load of crap and that people should take responsibility for their own actions and make their own decisions. But perhaps 10% of the would 800 million people are extremists, we can't lock them all up, and have to learn to live with them. Acts of terror are not the end of the world, America has moved on since 9/11, and now support acts of terror against Russian. citizens. Hatred and extremism are dangerous. I try to steer clear of them and use the ignore function on here to make sure I don't have to listen to them.

Americans are not exactly renowned for having long attention spans, so maybe by November voters will have forgotten how stupid it is to give an obstinate and demented old man the codes for US nukes. I hope not but after all there is the same 3 ads on TV every 5 minutes during prime time, in case the punters forget.

99-Year Land Lease To Foreigners Will Harm Thailand: Jatuporn
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You are right, Japtuporn, about this; although wrong about most other things. But before you know it with a 99 year lease you would see farmers being kicked off their land, making their way to Bangkok and living in cardboard shacks under the highways. Bangkok would look like Mexico City or Delhi if 99 year leases are allow. We have a short term problem in the housing market.....let the developers forgo some profits for a year or to, but don't create a long term problem for some short term solution to a temporary problem.- 119 replies
