Is plastic recycling a hoax made up by Big Oil?
retarius replied to flyingtlger's topic in General Topics
I read an article once and have searched for it. It was about Hong Kong refusing UK 'recycling' materials, because the UK operators were not separating the material correctly and were including plastics hidden inside batches of cardboard. China subsequently banned British (and other?) recycling trash. But the better part of the article explained the scam that was British recycling and the legal 'rules' that abetted the fraud. I'll keep searching for it. -
Investigation: The antisemitism that Oct. 7 unleashed in Canada
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
You reap what you sow. Fretting about rises in antisemitism when Israel is murdering innocent Palestinians by the thousand rings hollow to me. If Israel stops murdering women and children maybe antisemitic incidents will fall. Reading the shameful report above, makes me ask the question of how an antisemitic incident is defined? Maybe it is defined as criticising the slaughter by Israelis. It is crystal clear to me that while Israel might win the battle, they are finally losing the war for hearts and minds around the globe. And that can only be a good thing. -
Chanthaburi Still Takes TM-30 Seriously
retarius replied to HappyExpat57's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I am under the impression that if trips are taken within Thailand then. TM 30 is not required. My wife checked this with the I/Os there and we have always operated on that basis without problems. -
Big Joke faces 2 charges over financial links to gambling operators
retarius replied to anchadian's topic in Thailand News
I'm heart broken. I thought he was clean, although I did wonder how he managed to have all those houses in Bangkok on a cop's salary. Another one bites the dust....I suppose someone really clever will remind me that he's innocent until proven guilty....but still we still have out thoughts and as a realist, I have to say, he's probably guilty as hell. But off they throw the book at him, will they throw the book at the ones who actually ran the schemes....the 8 senior policemen. Nah I think they'll let those guys off with a 200 baht fine. -
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/21/barely-10-per-cent-of-europeans-believe-ukraine-can-defeat-russia-poll Link tells the story, you can read in full in the Guardian (which is not a reliable source in my opinion), but they are reporting on an independent piece of research from a reliable source, and the results of the the poll jive with what one might expect.

As Israel attacks Rafah, US offers only words of caution
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
Very stupid to call anyone who disagree with slaughter of innocents as 'Israel/Jew haters'. I disagree with the slaughter and wish it would stop, end off story. I cannot understand tpeople who try to justify it, especially those that take the easy route, avoid arguing the morals and call everyone who disagrees with the Jew Haters. -
As Israel attacks Rafah, US offers only words of caution
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
I think the answer is no, no one has changed their minds. People like me, who are revolted by the slaughter of innocents are not persuaded by arguments that attempt to justify the slaughter who argue that Israel is right every time it comments an atrocity. It's like tow football fans arguing, neither win change their support for their team because of the other's arguments. -

PM Srettha pledges to woo back Russian tourists with revived flights
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I disagree, Russia is in the right and was provoked severely by the west. They have conducted the war in the the most moral fashion, scrupulously observing the rules of war and minimising civilian casualties (in marked contrast to Israel's tactics in Gaza which are designed to maximise civilian deaths), whilst Ukraine have resorted to terrorism against civilians, not that I blame them in this asymmetric contest where they are outgunned. Putin, although you may not like him, is a humanitarian and a gentleman whereas Ukraine shoots down a plane that it has been informed is full of named exchange POWs.- 131 replies

!5 years pumping hard water (presumably) is not a bad life. The pump doesn't owe you anything, but beware the new pump you buy will probably be inferior to the old one and not last nearly as long.

Totally agree....Thai Airways are idiots, but who knows what extra benefits the directors received for buying Boeing? No wonder Thai went bankrupt with all the corruption. Why didn't they buy decent quality planes from Airbus?

Read the article, Thai are purchasing 787 dreamliners not 757s.

Satellite imagery to resolve Khao Yai National Park land dispute
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Cancel these certificates. From personal experience, I know that Bangkok hi-sos came and fenced in thousands of acres of Pak Chong ion the 70s when the Pot Koh Sor was introduced. Most didn't farm but grew banana trees and stuff to give the appearance of farming and held onto the land to try to change its designation via bribery to chanote. I tried to buy a 55 rai lot, so I do know about this because extensive discussion with the land owner (thief). I also know and had a much discussion with an owner of 500 rai that was fenced in run as a farm and miraculously became chanote. -

Serves him right, well done girl. You sold your body for 10,000 baht, pretty decent price in my view.
