  1. Update:

House next door is 95% finished and the new Electronic Meter 5/100A has been installed by the PEA. No inspection by them of the electrical installation.

We changed the Main MCB (50A) in the CU from a RCBO to a Normal one. We got some tripping which the Sparky solved, but because the MAIN one, when it trips, causes the whole house to be out of Power we changed it and thus changed the relevant (individual) ones from a Normal one to RCBO, so that only those circuits will trip and NOT the whole house will be out of power.

This is why we have very few items in our house which are built in and made of wood, but even then they are all treated with Chandrite before installing.

And that is what the installer / builder forgot to do, but he still charged a ton of money for the Kitchen.

We have outside the same house a seating area made from wood over the pond, but we put lots of layers of the Chaindrite Wood Preservative on it and up to now it's still oke

    That's really interesting.

I am always concerned about the possible loss of the phone. What a hassle to get back to normal.

If you use Google Authenticator with a Google Account then it's as simple as installing Google Authenticator on your new phone and login with the Google Account and voila your (old) 2FA codes appear in the APP automatically.

Also you can Choose to backup the Codes to your PC.

      • As of April 2023, Google Authenticator automatically backs up your one-time codes to your Google account.
      • As long as you've updated Google Authenticator and it's connected to your Google account, you can restore Authenticator from the cloud.
      • If you aren't backing up Authenticator, you can manually transfer your accounts to a new device or restore using your QR code.

Recent Reading: 10535 (reading on the most recent date the meter reader took it)
Previous Reading 9914 (same as above but from the previous month)

Usage 621 Units (Recent - Previous reading)

Total Electric Charge 2519,93 (this is the actual price without any extras (so 2519,93 / 621 = 4,057 THB per unit)

    The Extra's

Service Charge 24,62 (same every month)
FT charge (as said is Fuel Surcharge) (which is 0.2048 per Unit 621 * 0.2048 = 127,18)

Vat 187.02 (7% over the total)

Total 2858.75 (you have to pay)

So you average price per kW you pay to the PEA is = 4,603 THB

  5. An option for the OP is.

    Day 1:  (early morning)

Go to the Electricity Meter and NOTE it's reading

    Day 2: (early morning)

Go to the Electricity Meter and NOTE it's reading again and subtract Day 1 reading from Day 2 reading

    Day3:  (early morning)

Go to the Electricity Meter and NOTE it's reading

    After that. Turn off SOLAR

    Day 4: (early morning)

Go to the Electricity Meter and NOTE it's reading again and subtract Day 3 reading from Day 4 reading

This will give you a VERY rough calculation (not incorporating back spinning meters etc)

My main problem is I cant decipher the electric bill very well I cant see a price per unit

Can you post it? So that we can post a clarification

Before posting Please remove all personal  identifying info, like PEA Nr, QR codes etc etc

Edit: Price per unit is on a sliding scale, the more you use the more you pay. (and on top of that is service charge, FT charge, AND VAT 7%)

    Question,

will the Consulate in Savvankhet be oke with a (recent online) Bank Statement from a FOREIGN Bank that shows (at least the equivalent of) 400.000 THB to be able to apply for a Multiple Entry Non-O visa (based on Marriage to a Thai)?

    TiA

    Okay boyz and squirrellz
Just got confirmation from two different visa run companies who lug foreigners to Savannakhet for visas, that IF you want a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai you DO need to show 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only OR the equivalent in a foreign bank account. There is NO seasoning required on the funds, just has to show IN your account on the day you apply

So yes it is accepted according to that

Yeah, pumping direct from the mains is "unwise" (let's not get into the argument of whether it is actually illegal).

That said, it's also not good for your wallet, because when the mains is "out of water", you will be paying for sucking air as the Water Meter (AFAIK) will still spin because the Pump is sucking air which cause the water meter to spin.

You are drawing water from a storage tank as required?

    +1

As I read it he doesn't!

@mran66 If you have connected the pump directly to the mains and the mains don't have enough pressure (less water) then your pump is sucking air which would cause it to overheat.

Normal working method for a Pump is have the Mains connect (fill) to a Water tank and then the Pump will draw water from that tank (and not directly from the mains)

@Crossy has a great diagram for it on how to connect it, but I can't find it right now.

    Edit: Found it

Yeah, we had a near-miss back in June.

Same here, and back then nothing (fortunately) happened and we still have the old style meter.

But we are upgrading the house we bought next door and also upgrading the electrical system in that house from 5/15A to 15/45A we contacted the PEA and we will also get an Electronic Meter to replace the old 5/15A one.

Now I am wondering how long it will take for them to exchange all the meters in our Soi (inclu the one in our House) :ermm:

edit: Maybe by upgrading the electricity for the next door house we are getting unwanted attention

I always did bank letter a day before. Was told that only book update is needed same day.

12 month statement at Bangkok Bank seems annoying? Order days ahead.

    Will see next year.

i asked them when I did my extension (2 weeks ago) and they said (and I quote) “They prefer the bank letter and book update to be done on the same day”. (Ymmv)

My bank branch only opens at 10:30, I could go to the one in town (which opens earlier) but parking there is very difficult.

    This is Buriram IO

ps: i had the 12 month statement also (approx 4 weeks old) but they did not ask for it, only the 6 month statement (but must say it’s a FD deposit with the money in there many years already, I am already on my 2 book, which they both wanted to look at)

Yes and why not: because a provincial office like ours does not cause hours of queuing and paperwork is easy if you fulfill the requirements (may differ as some offices seem to invent own rules to harras people).

I hardly need more than an hour waiting included to do extension. Out before 11 AM and plenty of time to shop and dine.

the longest wait for us is to get the bank letter and the 6 month statement at the bank, that usually is at approx an hour in the bank, immigration was a breeze, arrived at 12:55 left 13:20 with a new 1 year extension (retirement)

Thanks for your reply. Do they give you an option to pause the confirmation process in case you need to get something later to submit?

It seems many people get many different requests to confirm. What country are you from? Thanks again

No absolutely not will they give you time to pause, when I got it for me it was 4th December and if not by that date, they would block your account and you would not be able to transfer or use your balances.

If we don’t hear back from you before 4 December 2023 your account will be suspended and you won't be able to send, spend or receive money with Wise.

If you miss the deadline, you can still reinstate your account by providing the information requested in the link above. When we’ve verified the information sent, your account and card will start working again.

That email was a reason why I removed ALL my Balances with them.
