  1. I will be going to imm. next week. We'll see what they say.

Did you go to Immigration and what was their answer, as I'm struggling with the same question.

I want to open a separate account just for the 400.000 (Non-O Marriage) required and I want it to gain some interest.

But I'm still not sure what kind of Account I can open as I don't believe the Bank Employees anymore, because they already proved that they don't know the rules at Immigration Offices.

  2. With Basecamp, it just reads the Very Detailed Map (ESRI / TSM) from within the GPS automatically and you can plan routes.

The only disadvantage is, that everything on the MAP is displayed in Thai Language and you can't change that.

You have the dual language ESRI V11.1 map installed in your nuvi 2575. Disconnect the GPS from your computer and switch to the English language map, close BaseCamp, reconnect to your computer and then restart BaseCamp. That may work.

Thanks for the tip :wai: Much appreciated.

    But it unfortunately doesn't work.

I've already sent an email to ESRI regarding this (among other things) and their reply was:

<snip> There is one limitation for the dual map units like nuvi 2575, the BaseCamp will only display map in Thai
  3. Well I still use mapsource (has already trip and waypoint manager) it gives a map of the whole world but very rough, only the highways. But if you have that you can ad so many maps as you want I use esri 11.1 a map of North Thailand and a Lao map last 2 maps are made by Mr.Koopmans. ( the Lao map is for sale by Eagle gps)

Mapsource is more easy to use then basecamp.

    Ben de Beer.............

    Ben,

did you have to buy another Map to load into Mapsource ? And if not, how did you get your map into Mapsource ?

With Basecamp, it just reads the Very Detailed Map (ESRI / TSM) from within the GPS automatically and you can plan routes.

The only disadvantage is, that everything on the MAP is displayed in Thai Language and you can't change that.

  4. ..............

    - some proof of address - house papers, contract or utility bill

    ..............

Would a Internet Provider bill count as a utility bill ? As I get my Elec and Water bill on a sheet of (recycled) paper directly from the Condo Management with no form of identification (only Room Number)

  5. if want the visa to last you an extra 10+ days make another visa run on approx the 13th Sept. Don't stretch your luck and waiting until the last day.

Don't offer information if you don't know the truth!

The mod's and admin DO so don't post false statements!

Sorry - not intending to sound like a mod'. But soooome people ;-0

Question, what is not correct about my advice ?

The OP has a valid Multiple Entry visa valid until the 17th. So if he did another visa run on the 13th orso, he will get another 90 days, stretching his visa till approx the full 15 Months. Just don't wait until the last day.

  6. In whole honesty, I think it's illegal in Thailand to brew your own stuff here. Even the old folks upcountry love to make their own "Sato" (Rice Wine), but the yeast is almost impossible to find

  7. SNGM, what nationality were the troublemakers?

Just wondering, what has the nationality of a troublemaker to do with anything, and how would it (if we knew) benefit the rest of us ?

  8. I reversed into a Cruze at Big C yesterday, all 30 Airbags went off, what a BANG. This little Ferang about 4Ft Tall jumps out , and says to me" I'm Not Happy"... So i said. O.K, i give up, which one are You ?. ;)

:cheesy: He must have been Grumpy when he said that

  9. Just connect the GPS to your PC with the Supplied USB Cable (Select Mass Storage Mode on the GPS) and start BaseCamp.

BaseCamp should read the Map from your Garmin unit and display it. You then can create custom routes and Waypoints which you can send to your Garmin. (it's faster and more detailed then using for example the Route Planner in the Garmin itself)

Note this is how it works for me and my Nuvi 2575.

But aren't we getting Off Topic ?

Actually, if your Garmin specifications say "Routes: 0" then you cannot download and save routes from your computer.

You make a very good point IO, but then you are still be able to save Waypoints, And that is still easier with BaseCamp vs GPS (In my case 32" Monitor instead of a 5" GPS Screen

(BTW: I looked at the specs of my 2575 and it says Routes: 100)

  10. ................

The ESRI has a English version I have not tried yet but the Thai versions works just fine except looking up places are in Thai not English. Anyone else with the ESRI English version care to comment?

I have ESRI v11.1 [DUAL Language] on my Nuvi 2575 and the lookup in English works quite well, only when I load the map via BaseCamp I get everything in Thai Language and can't change it.

I have a copy of Base Camp but I'm not really sure how it works.

  12. Lots of Thais bought the 3L Auto 4 x 4 because one of the few Vigo's with the Auto box.

Now the new Vigo Champ Prerunner 4 x 2 also comes with the 4 speed Auto box.

Friend of mine just bought one, 896K Baht plus 37K Baht for electric carryboy lid and he told the dealer he didn't like the cloth seats, so for 17K Baht they put the leather ones for the 4 x 4 model in.

I own the Hilux Vigo double cab 4 x 2, 3L auto and get around 13 KM/litre, there again I drive at modest speeds and do'nt charge around the country at 160 with a pickup full of mo -cys, anyone who does on the roads around here is barking! just my POV.

    ph34r.gif

What are the roads by you then, Cart Tracks.? 160 kph is under 100 MPH

...There are many miles of Super Highways here,3 and 4 lanes if you get out and look. I use them every day, and very nice they are too.:D .

160kmh is 100MPH, and crusing at that speed provides an average speed of 110-120kmh depending on traffic and number of junctions one has to go through. Makes the 1.500km Phuket-Nong Kai trip doable in 2 x 6-7 hours passes. One Phuket- Hua Hin. One Hua Hin- Nong Kai. Also makes Hua Hin town to Suvarnabum trip in exactly 2 hours at 4am.

I have tried higher cruisingspeeds in TH with other cars, but not comfy as too many hard brakings

Kata feels comfy at 160, but my misses just drives at 80-90kmh on the Highway and when I urge her to speed up a little (because it is possible) she just says "I can but I won't" :o

So the comfort level is different for everyone. (I bet Kata doesn't feel comfy driving at 80-90 km on a "empty" Highway )

    Edit 18:21

If anyone is wondering why my wife is driving, it is her car and my PJS GT is still on order.

And we have a rule she drives her Car and I drive my Car, so in the meantime I am a passenger.
