Marriage Extension - How Early Can You Apply?
MJCM replied to dairy queen's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
AFAIK you can get a re—entry permit for that. but @ubonjoe will know the ins and outs, we always stayed put and even didn’t leave the province. Friends on the same extension got summoned in their under consideration period, but the paperwork they submitted was completely in order. -
Marriage Extension - How Early Can You Apply?
MJCM replied to dairy queen's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It depends on your IO, some allow only 30 and other ones 45 days but don’t forget the under consideration period (which afaik (but could be wrong)) starts from the date your extension ends. (We applied early one time and had to wait 45 days on the under consideration period, that is why I changed to retirement (hated that under consideration period)) -

PEA and Solar how low can you go?
MJCM replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Appreciated, but who has to maintain that or has to show up when it doesn't do what they want it do? Moi ???? Don't forget I am talking about installing them some simple Plugin GTI's (not Sofar Inverters). Which is even much simpler (Pulling a Plug or flipping a switch) -
PEA and Solar how low can you go?
MJCM replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
< 50 kWh per month for 3 months straight I was planning on installing the same setup as us for the BIL, but the main issue is that they WILL FORGET to turn the GTI's OFF on meter reading day, yes I could warn them (no big DEAL) but they WILL then STILL Forget to turn it off so I have to drive over there and turn it off. Too much hassle. -

PEA and Solar how low can you go?
MJCM replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
I posted this previously and also again today The only discount AVAILABLE for the near future is the discount of the Service Charge ONLY. 38.22 THB -> 24.62 THB . That is for AFAIK 15/45A users and up (??) only. For 5/15A NO discount in service charge (was already 8.19THB) but they also got the increase of 0.9343 Ft Charge. Why I know? Our House is on 15/45 and the property next door (we own) is on 5/15 ???? (but that house only used 12kWh for the last couples of months (only a light burning 24/7) and thus the Bill is still 0 THB. -

PEA and Solar how low can you go?
MJCM replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Impressive. We are only using 2 Simple Plugi GTI's (still) and they have brought our Electricity usage down from 262 units (before we installed them) to 58 units this month. Which I think is very very good for the basic setup we use. Edit: Why so slow in the first couple of months? SWMBO wasn't happy but now she is the one to put the machines on and even is pushing for the low 50's -

Retirement Visa 800k, withdrawal rules.
MJCM replied to YorkshireTyke's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
+1 Our IO allows 45 day early. I am doing mine in early December with the extension due in early Jan. So this year we can have a long stay over Christmas and New Years in Europe. And as @DrJack54 already said, No Penalty or losing days for applying early. Do note: This is for retirement extension and NOT for Marriage extension because then you will have the Under Consideration Period to consider. -
Approaching Extension Expiration
MJCM replied to Grandpaneal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yep according to your situation, but I responded to someone else thus that is why I was not responding to your specific subjects. Edit: Overstay is never a Good idea, I am living in Thailand now for over 12+ years and I only had one day overstay. (Visa Run company got the date wrong (no consequences back then) and they paid for everything. -

Approaching Extension Expiration
MJCM replied to Grandpaneal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I tend to agree, but I did my Retirement Extension yesterday but I also prepared the Docs for Marriage extension as well. The only Difference (additional docs) were and I list them here Kr2 (Obtained from the Amphur they day before (costs 20 THB)) 4 pictures of us together. Done with my Phone and printed by the local Photo shop for 60 THB (2 sets of 4 pictures each) I don't mention Wife's ID card or Tabien Baan because Immigration also wanted them yesterday as she is the owner of the house where we are living. Oke then you may ask, why did you change then if it is so easy, SIMPLE ANSWER, I absolutely hated the 30 (up to 45 days once) under consideration period. Marriage extension has some perks as well, less money (400k THB) to keep in a account and the ability to get a work permit. -
This depends on your IO, If you are on a extension of stay based on Retirement then it depends on the IO, some (like mine) allow 45 days before, but some only 30 days and less.

Retirement Extension requirements (very simple) - Age 50 YEARS and over - Money in the Bank 800k or 65k Money coming in EVERY MONTH This is very simply put (the rules for Money Seasoning is another topic)

Where did you hear that? Birthday HAS nothing to do with renewal of extension of stay based on Retirement. Maybe only you can apply for that when you are 50 years (and older) My birthday is in May and just yesterday renewed my Retirement extension at Immigration
