Back when the "war on drugs" was going on we where at the local market and a car pulled up and shot two people allegedly involved in drugs, apparently this was carried out by the police.
Anyway, my friend turns to me and says " shuak gai hi ling do" basicly
"Cut the chickens throat and let the monkeys watch"
ie They were being made an examlpe of.
Anyone esle know any thai sayings and their meanings?
Cheers

1 You were born, here but left when you were 3 yrs old. You may be biolagicaly thai but thats about it.
2 I've yet to really see you put any opinions up other than your opinions about why people are picking on you.
3 I recived a really sarcastic PM from you, I wounder how many others have?
If you want to particapate in this forum, you have to give a bit and take a bit, lighten up !!

Cat A
Cat Bmale, femaleblack, white, AsiaticCat C
Cat Dblind, deaf, in a wheelchaira bored housewife, a screaming drag queen, a de-frocked priest, a tattooed skinhead, a megabutch lesbian, a Thai temple dancer, or a Yakuza hitman.Pick one from each Cat, and you get some pretty good combinations, still havent worked the right one out for Rod though,
How about Male, black, deaf, thai temple dancer.
Hmmm maybe not
and I thought every one knew that Bluecat was a blind ,Yakuza hitman

One more question

Kwam yaow keu 2 met = the lenght is 2 met
Man yaow keu 2 met = its 2 meet
Make scence? I left the keu in

Dont, try to discuss the socioeconomic inpacts on coruption in the thai police force.
Dont make and derogatory remarks, about their parentage, or their mothers, sisters, wives ect
Dont say its not your fault cos you've been drinking all day.
Dont tell them to find a tailor cos their uniforms to thight and makes them look fat.
Dont poke them with sticks
And never ever tell them they probably dont know how to use that gun and couldnt shot straight even if they did.
Theres probably more but these have always worked for me

I've done loads of visa runs in the past to Mae Sot, the last about six months ago.
It was 500 bht to get into Burma, you can only go as far as the local market there, I've never been, and most people say there is not much there.
On the Thai side there is a market, with some good furniture, and loads of trinkity stuff, quite cheap. Beware of buying cigaretts offered on the thai side or in burma, they are usually fake (well known brand packaging) same with most other stuff, the packet is genuine the contents usually are'nt.
Anyway, get to the freindship bridge, go to the imagration post stamp out of thailand, then you can walk across not far 5 min or wait for the song trew, about 5 min as well !!
When you get to the burma side you will see the imagration hut, just go in, you dont need to stand at the window, they will ask you if you want to go to the town, most people just get the stamp and walk straight back. Fill the form out pay your 500 bht and done, used to take me about 20 min inc walking. I've never needed a photo, but they may ask you for one.
There are a few hotels there The Central MaeSot Hills is the most upmarket and close to the bridge, about 1000bht a night, the bridge is a few km out of town though, there is an airport as well.
These were advertising tickets for about 2000bht return

Mae Sot is about 80 km from Tak, and the road is like a roller coaster, great scenary, but I dont know if I'd want to do it on a bus.
As for getting there from BKK, sorry cant help you much, I've always driven up from Nakorn Sawan, but I would of thought you'd head for Tak and then change busses, a night in Tak sounds like a good idea. Tak is probably about 6-7 hrs by bus fron BKK mabye more with stops, add about 1.5-2 hrs bus to Mae Sot.

I think there is a clue in "CENTRAL" as in center, heart ect..

At the last Thai Visa meeting I thought Bluecat was actually a Blue cat.

There is actually a wineary (??) in my village, its called Chateau De Tak Far, and the red is'nt bad. dont really know much about the buissiness.
You'll have to rely on my "fishy friend" to imform you of the emviromental impacts
Heres a couple of links
In Thailand, the country that inspired the term New LatitudeWines, there are now no fewer than five wineries turning
grapes into wine. One of the most ambitious, and one that uses
exclusively Thai-grown grapes, is the Siam Winery, founded as
recently as 1996 by the man who invented the energy drink Red
Bull, Khun Chalerm Yoovidya. Perhaps to atone for inflicting
Red Bull on the world's nervous systems, he is now trying to
develop Thailand's wine culture.
The grapes, Malaga Blanc for white wines and the local dark-
skinned Pok Dum with Shiraz and Black Muscat, are bought from
farmers in the Chao Prayha Delta, an hour south west of
Bangkok, where the vineyards effectively float on the river
water. Plantings have apparently increased from 8,000 to
12,000 acres of floating vines since 1996 and, while the name
they have chosen for their international brand, Monsoon
Valley, is not guaranteed to inspire traditional wine lovers
with confidence, they are very clear in their objective of
promoting the wines specifically to partner Thai food in
restaurants around the world. They are also developing
experimental vineyards further north on higher ground in the
Tap Gwang District, near Khao Yai, which is also the name of
the wine subsidiary of the brewers of Thailand's leading beer
Singha. The historic Chinese wine company Changyu recently
announced it is planning a joint venture winery with its Thai
importers, while Chateau de Loei has been producing red and
white table wines in north east Thailand for a decade now. The
latitude range of all these Thai vineyards is well under 18
degrees north of the equator.

All toursit places nonetheless , Isaan is the heartland , no tourist places , long may it remain so
Nah Central Plain is the heart land, Issans just stuckon the side somewhere
-
Yep, heres a link, never stayed on one though.

Auattaya, Shoukothai, for history, ruins ect, Lopburi, has some interesting Khemer ruins, loads of monkeys and is very un touristy.
Chang Mai/rai, Mae Hongsong for mountains.
Kow Yai national park, for mountains/wildlife
Beaches of Ko Samet, Chang or down south Phuket, Krabi, Saturn.
Kanchanaburi has a nice setting on the river, site of the "bridge over the river Khawi" and some nice resort hotels out of town either floating on or next to the river, the scenary around is pretty good to and only a few hours out of BKK.
My fav is Phuket, world class beaches, loads of nightlife and good resteraunts. On the down side its probably the most expensive place in Thailand and Patong is very touristy.
Hmm where to see the real Thailand?
Its all of it, the tourist beaches, Bangkok, main cities around the country, small country villages. Life is different in all of them but they all go to make the real Thailand.

Canad ขนาด
