  1. I can not see how this has any thing to do with the legitimacy of the election, but more to do with the legitimacy of serving/former ministers of government, and an attempt to disqualify them from public office.

I can not see this voiding the general election, but if any person disqualified has been elected, it would require by-elections.

And the court refused to rule until they have heard from expert witnesses.

That refers to the mega loan.

  2. Bt10 bn for 1 million tonnes

Still about Bt 3k per tonne more than the market price.

Yep, and 5 billion short of what it cost, so they will not have 'made' anything.

The maths now becomes alarmingly clear. 130 billion is needed just to pay for the current rice that has been accepted in the last round of pledging. 500-800 billion of the 'rotational fund' is nowhere to be found. We are told this week there are 10.1 million tons of rice in stock. Even if ALL the rice could be sold at 10K baht per tonne that would raise 110 Billion baht and the rice warehouses would be empty. The purse would still be 20 billion short, BUT just say they could do it we would have 500-800 billion gone already, plus 110 billion paid to farmers now desperate since October, still 20 billion short AND every rice warehouse empty. Now can someone please explain where the money has all gone, because it clearly cannot be recouped as the warehouses would all be empty. So somewhere in the order of 610-910 billion whoops I forgot the 20 Bill shortfall, so 630-930 billion baht has gone and they are now trying to blame Suthep ( and some folks on here believe that as well ! ).

Oh my darling Thailand, what have they done to you. If only they cared for you one tenth as much as I do, but they have the right to vote and implement policy and as much as I and my family love you, I have no rights to care for you at all.

But the big problem for the government is there is probably only 5 million tonnes in stock. If they sold all the rice they have then they will have to answer questions as to where the missing rice is. More embarrassment.

  3. Grapes tasting sour?

    G

Obviously you don't understand.Let me explain it to you.

Today was not about voting. Today was about reforming the system before an election.

Now I don't give two hoots about who won and who lost so long it is a fair fight.

At the moment it is not a level playing field.

Neither side wants to win for the people they both want to win for themselves and that is bad for the people.

What they should do is reform the the rules to make vote tampering a thing of the past and hold new election banning existing politicians, friends and family from standing and basically that is what, love him or hate him, Suthep is trying to do.

If you seriously believe that you dont understand what is going on. Suthep by hook or by crook, with mighty financial backing, must be at the trough for the next chapter of Thailands history. Failure to achieve this will mean his backers, who have benefitted greatly from the current regime, will never be in the game again as long as Thaksin is alive.

But the current regime is the Thaksin regime.

  5. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif you reckon and cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif what democracy you mean taksin 1party state cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Looks like Suthep and his lackeys failed to stop democracy!

And how many party state is it with Sutheps 300 good Poodles Council.

Think we outed some "educated" thais posting on here in support of Suthep at all costs.

Hillarious ignorance on many posts here. But I note 4 -5 of the preceeding posts all say the same thing basically.

Team suthep at work. IF you can't block democracy with guns, the army won't help, maybe the Thaivisa Troll army can do a PR job for us.

So funny if democracy was not so badly under threat.

Your another that jus doesn't understand.

  6. Grapes tasting sour?

Geez you just don't get it do you?

Do you 'get' that today the people of Thailand have ignored Suthep and gone out to exercise their right to vote? The people have spoken

  7. I have been looking for my next home for the last 6 months after 13 years in CM.

Cm is no longer the idyllic little back water that I used to know.

Traffic and air pollution which is getting worse each year, and now starting earlier, have persuaded me to call it quits.

But to where? That is the question. Because money is a consideration, well for me it is, and I can't see myself dreaming about Utopia because there are places I can afford and places I can't.

If money was not a problem than I would to back to OZ.

  8. Crazy, one or more of the three have to fail, Promenada, Central Festival or Maya, there isn't enough customers nor money,

How do you know this? The mall investors likely did their research, along with expected increase in population and wealth over the coming 5 years. Not saying they can't be wrong, but they likely gave it more thought than the average Thaivisa pundit.

Also, competition is good. If two of them prove to be much better than the others then it's just fine if the lesser ones don't make it.

Excluding KSK for now (as it doesn't really compete unless work is done on it), that means four proper malls in the Chiang Mai area. (And pretty much the whole of Northern Thailand). Wikipedia has the population of the Chiang Mai Metropolitan Area (which includes Lamphun) at a million people. Plus tourists. Plus that also for people in, say, Lampang it's an hour and a half to drive over and go shopping.

Four malls does not seem completely unreasonable. Sure, maybe one of them doesn't make it, or shifts focus away from a general mall. That's okay. Maybe the other two new ones only turn a profit in 10 years. That's probably okay too.

Winnie the main reason they are being built now is that it is cheaper to build now than say 5-8 years time when they will be needed, plus the fact any bugbears can be sorted out and the money coming in now is just pure cream.

It is the result of forward planning.
