  1. It would be nice to elevate the discussion. 😉 Everyone has the right to buy/look/ask/love/hate or not EV ... we had this fights years ago for Gazoline vs Diesel .. Actually, for a "cheap" EV , without taking too much risk (too much investment), I think Neta is number one but I am new to this. I saw also MG EV4 (new model) but this is off topic. Neta V2 seams better that the first one (just watched a road testing on Youtube) ... Anyone got the Neta X ? Also, what is a offpeak TOU meter ? Do we have to pay for it ? Can we install in any house ? Thanks
  2. Selling old Mazda 2, looking for an cheap EV, and Neta V2 (or X) comes to mind. Is there anyone complaining that when it is wet and raining, we have "fog" on the windows, and whatever we try with air-cond, it is not easy o get rid off... Apparently, people complaining on Thai websites... Anyone ?
  3. Sirin hotel / Parking in the front of the reception / 50m from Irish Pub and Soi Binthabat / 75m from the beach Cheap / Nice room / Nice service / Small pool / Choose balcony over the pool better No Lift / Breakfast so so but I don't care, I take the Irish ABF outside. Price around 1,000 / sometimes cheaper to call them then websites. Phil.
  4. OK, I found the cause, we were having a DDOS on a dynamic IP on vsftpd ... which is not lucky. IP banned and problem fixed now. Thanks for perf reports. Phil.
  5. Sorry to bump this topic but my international traffic to Europe has been a nightmare for almost a week. 3BB told me there is an issue with the submarine cables ... Does anyone experienced this recently, long connection, time-out, and so on, only on international, both sides (to and from Europe). For information, I am in Chiangmai-Lamphun province.
  6. That's sad . Really. Rest in Peace Nick.
  7. Often, prevention cost less than the hospital... Xiaomi has many models, and cheap filter replacement. Also, many foreigners are living, and selling second hand purifier. Changing or cleaning the filter is not that expensive , at least on Xiaomi models. The fan trick works. You can do same for the air-cond (at least just use the fan if money is a problem), and put Filtrete inside. Works also for the cabin air filter in the car ! Good luck
  8. Hi, I have an old air-cond, in a rented apartment... Compressor has been tested and cleaned, it is OK. I had an offer 2 years ago to replace the evaporator by a new one, around 5,000thb ++ (brand Samsung for the old one). I don't find anymore the contact company. Do you know in Chiangmai some companies able to sell and install only this part ? Thanks Phil.
  9. Sorry, English is not my native language but, to be sure to understand ... what do you mean by "stablecoins bought somewhere" ... you have bitcoins, you exchange to stablecoins ... you don't "buy" it ... Now if you sold your USDT to USD or even THB ... maybe you occur the tax ... am I right ? Or do you need to transfer to your Thai bank account ?
  10. Hi ... and by selling, you mean ... selling to USD or THB, and./or money transfer to your Thai Bank account ... but not exchanging to stablecoins (or other cryptos) on exchange ...
  11. Yep , If you arrive in Thailand on March 18, you should live on April 17 max. Change your Vietnam flight to 1 or 2 weeks before ... anyway you will not use it ... or buy another one. This "could" (or not) be a problem at Bangkok Immigration ... Good luck
  12. Bad air just coming last night, not sure about tomorrow. 20mn / 30mn trip : it all depends ... Cannot be exact. If you have a 7h break, 10mn more or less will not make much more difference. Grab FROM the airport can be "tricky" and maybe not much cheaper. Also, you often have to take it outside. Grap App shows "Drop off only" ... so ...Taxis are on the left, 150thb, and off you go ShangriLa is a nice place and quite easy access to the highway, but outside city center. If you wanna stay there, that's cool.
  13. With the nice polluted air coming just today, a refreshing indoor place could be more reasonable than wandering in a park/garden ... 😉 Also take care of the traffic on Saturday afternoon near the airport. That's not Bangkok but it can be a little bit busy. Check Google Map 1 or 2 hour before. Maya / Nimman are not far but the city center is also quite close, we are not in Bangkok 😉 150Thb to go to the city from airport. You can take a Grab car to go back. Plenty of massage shops from 300 to 3,000 thb. Enjoy !
  14. You need to be mobile . Except some islands as Samui maybe, far from everything, smoke/dust are moving with the wind. And it depends also from one year to another. I would say, a windy place near the beach, as Phuket or Samui. Smoke can come from Indonesia also in Phuket, which does not affect Samui. But find a good compromise, and be ready to move 2 months during the year if necessary. But yes, humidity and quite clean air is better than dry and polluted air for asthma. So ... islands it is ! Phil.
  15. Normally yes, you have a mail confirmation. But anyway wait 1 or 2 days, to see if the final validation/refusal comes through ... if you are doing this many days in advance. Screenshot is always a good idea , and check also your spam/junk folder. Phil.
  16. But your mobile contract has a limit in Gb/month no ? Limit that normally we don't have on a router (3BB or else) - Also payment via mobile app, confirmed and easy.
  17. I think the cancellation of work permit and Visa B extension is done the same day. Can't you have your new visa before cancellation (maybe make a deal with your supplier) ? Just asking ... Also, you should have 7 days if no mistake to leave the country but if you have a new employment, you can try to see how immigration office can help you (maybe giving some extension), good luck.
  18. Income tax based on what ? What are the rules ? Staking rules ? Token swap rules ? Capital gain ? Retroactive on how many years ? I can see the complexity of European crypto regulation rules, but at least, we "can" understand how the calculation is done and some companies as Waltio can help you with nice tools to report to tax office ... but in Thailand, what are the official rules for next year as it seems to change quite often ?
  19. This happened to me after spending 2 days in a hotel. Hotel registered me in Bangkok, not my normal address. I registered again my TM30, back home, then I was able to do my 90 days... Maybe this helps, maybe not 😉
  20. Hi, and which one is it ? Thanks https://www.payondentalclinic.com/dentists.html
  21. Visa Credit Card Platinum , I can get miles for Thai Airways. Phil.
  22. There are foreigners working here, paying income tax here and sometimes bringing some oversea money to fill the gap ... so Yes I am eagerly waiting to know more ???? . So not only Thai nationals. Phil
  23. There are so many scary videos about burning BYD in China, I would not trust it yet, but this is just a personal opinion (included one news, recently in Thailand). I am not sure why only BYD and not other EV brand-names as ORA, Good Cat, seeing so many of them on Thai roads. Phil.
  24. Will check, thanks Phil.
